Re: Going to registered hounds in the future

Arkyhunter, You might try posting your question on the SPO board. Try thespoboard.com and they will help you answer any questions you may have about that type of dog. Several on that site hunt the lines you mentioned.

Re: Starting to early?

By the time a dog reaches two years old you can't tell the ones that started at four months from the ones that started at eight months. The biggest differnce is when you want to sell a dog at a young age. The sooner you get them started the sooner you can sell them! There is NO truth to the stateme...

Re: Tracker receiver question ?

Thats the reason I said you'll need to practice with the Tracker. Always start low and work your way up that way you don't get a back signal as bad. After You use it a while you will get the hang of it. I checked on getting my Tracker up graded and thought about doing so but I also want to up grade...

Re: Tracker receiver question ?

You don't get as much range or pin point as well with the smaller antenna. You can get in the general direction then you must turn the tracker unit lower as you get closer and keep working it back and forth to pin point a dog. I left a dog coon hunting one night and when I returned to where I turne...

Danny I've been wanting to come over and visit you anyway. I would like to take a look at your dogs and just talk beagles someday when you have the time.

Running & Training Pen

I'm looking for a running and training pen in the West Tennessee area. If anyone has knowledge of one I would greatly appreciate the name of the owner and its location.

Re: How many of you rabbit hunt

I only hunt my dogs but here lately I've been thinking about getting into the field trials. As far as the 12 ga. goes I've hunted with both the 12 and 20 on rabbits. I can't tell much difference either is more than enough when it comes to killing rabbits. But I can tell a difference at the end of t...

Re: Shelter Logic Kennels?

I got them from yourfencestore.com I've had these for about five years and they work really well. The only thing different I did was instead of the plastic ties to hold the screens I used nylon rope. The ties work great for a while but over time they break.

Re: k9 kondo

Here's another pic so maybe you can go by these and make you some cheap house that do a really good job at keep your dog dry and warm.

If you decide to use make the sun deck make sure it is no wider than your base. It is even better if it just a little smaller.

Re: k9 kondo

The rain shield is made from the bottom of a barrel. It takes three barrels to make two houses. I attach the shield to the house with three 1/4" by 1" bolts. I use a 5/16" by 4 " bolt to go all the way though the 2 X 8 legs. I use a wood bit to recess the hole where the nut goes that way it don't t...

Re: 15+ in dogs and the rules

Beagles are getting bigger only because people are breeding them that way. Today there are a lot more people running a faster type dog so they like them bigger so they breed to bigger dogs. Plain and simple! Dogs in America are getting bigger on average because in America everything has to be bigge...

Re: Shelter Logic Kennels?

I have 5 x 10 runs and I really like them. You can house 1 big dog per run without any problems and up to three beagles but I prefer to only house two beagles per run. I didn't have a place level enough for concrete so I used treated lumber. This is the second kennel that I have built this way and ...

Re: k9 kondo

I've used lots of different houses over the years and you can't beat a good plastic barrel. I've made several different designs but I like this one the best. I can purchase enough material for $150.00 to built six houses. This includes the barrels, 2 x 8 planks for the legs, 2 x 4 planks for the to...

Re: 15+ in dogs and the rules

I don't think the rules need to be changed. The trials are set up to promote better beagles so beagles that are entered need to meet breed standards. If you hunt you can run what ever you like but if you want to run beagles then try and stay with the standard. If we don't heed to what the breed sta...
