I agree w/ Redtick that a good rabbit race should last at least 3 full circles. I have had a couple this year go 9 - 12 full cirlces....we just never could get the bunny cut off! As far as length of time - depends on the conditions, terrain and briar cover. Also, the time of year as it seems certain...

You can do a simple search and get your questions answered. I will say that you have not been around many registered beagles if you think they all do not have hunt.

Bglnut-
Probably the best way to get info. on the show is the visit their website. I don't recall it, but bet you can just search for Shot Show. Would be great to see you there next year!

VABeagler, The SHOT show is an amazing sight to behold! Pretty overwhelming! I bet I walked 10 miles a day! I saw the same stuff you mentioned above and there was quite a bit of dog stuff there - my point, was that none of those companies aren "targeting" rabbit hunters / beaglers. All the signs, ba...

A truck is a depreciating asset. It is worth most sitting in the car lot. You loose 10% when you drive it off the lot and it steadily declines from there. The gas used and miles driven do not make the truck more valueable, rather less valuable. On the other hand, a hound should appreciate with age a...

$450 is probably what the "average, going" price it. But, I'd say for a solid gun dog that handles well, is deer broke, not gun shy, or hand shy and has no major running faults and is about 3 years old that this hound should be worth $1,000.00. I say that knowing that this is much higher than the go...

Just got back from the SHOT Show in Vegas.

I have been thinking.... I was at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas this past week. The SHOT Show is the largest premier hunting trade show where everyone displays their new products for the upcoming year. There were probably 3,500 manufacturers there and well over 50,000 people attended the show. I walked...

Beagle puppy prices seem out of whack to me. Not that they are too high. I'd say the average price of a grade puppy around here out of hunting stock is $100. The average AKC puppy out of hunting stock would go for $150 from any average Joe Smith. While an AKC double FC bred puppy would go for $200 -...

I have fed Diamond for the last 5 years. Yellow bag in the summer, green bag in the winter and mix them during the fall and spring. I have not noticed any difference or change to date. May be the distribution chain I am buying from and the new bags haven't got here or something. I typically buy it f...

DarrinG, I believe you are correct. I'd like to get together w/ Donnie sometime and run the brothers together! The pup I got out of the litter w/ Jamie Hilbert's (breeder and handler of Blue Syris) pick of the litter. Jamie began cutting back several months ago and ended up selling out to focus on c...

I'll take a 22 if I'm going all by myself in a safe area and don't want to clean many rabbits. If I am w/ a group and trying to harvest rabbits I'll take a scatter gun.

If I running just my hounds I run w/ 2 - 5, just depending. A lot of times I have just a 1 - 2 hours for a quick run and I'll just take 2 hounds out as it is easier to mess w/. I do use e-collars when needed and bells most of the time.

Yes, I believe that is correct. Her name on the pedigree is Hardtimes WKK Total Chaos. Do you have a pup out of this litter?
