Re: Selling dogs ?/ VENTING!!
It's not just selling broke dogs- it can get bad selling pups. I sold 2 pups to a guy who claimed to be a big time rabbit hunter. The pups were 9 weeks old when he got them. He calls me 6 months later and says the pups are no good. He never took them out of the wire-bottom kennel until they were 8 m...

We have one and like it. You can easily carry 6 dogs, 3 to a side. More if they are small.

Re: getting a pup to honor a pack
You said he was "independent". Have you ever thought that maybe he doesn't hear well? I had a dog that wouldn't pack up at times and fnally found out he was almost deaf.

I can't speak for any other part of the country, but here in Virginia, I have never seen honeysuckle hold rabbits. They also don't seem to want to run in it when they are jumped somewhere else.
I know one thing for sure- it's tough to get rid of!

Re: AKC
I have dogs with the subject breeding in the pedigree. Do I like it? No. Have I moved on about it? Yes. A man I respect highly once told me that "Holding a resentment was like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die."

In the 1970's I had a Patch that was the most beautiful silver- grey- blue you have ever seen. He had a very dense coat and never had any skin problems. He was out of Anderson's Patch.

Re: WATCH OUT!
Mybeagles, I think you have a good point. I have seen some of the same thing. The club I belong to voted a member out of the club because of the way he treated his dog. I think we all have to be aware of how our treatment of our dogs looks to someone else. I have dogs who look like they were in a sl...

GOOD NEWS!
Adam rounded up 15 politicians and heavy- hitters in the county where he lives and when they all walked into the courthouse, the case was dismissed and he got his dogs back! He is still out the money for the lawyer, but at least he has the dogs back.

I ran 2 Patch dogs who are 1/2 brothers on Friday. I dropped them on the ground at 2:30 PM on a warm, dry, windy afternoon. We were in a large cutover with briars too thick to walk through. I sat on the tailgate and the dogs went into the briars and 30 minutes later they jumped a rabbit about 100 ya...

WATCH OUT!
I'm afraid there is an organized campaign to take dogs out of truck dog boxes on the grounds that they are "being abused". One report, on this site by Matt Glomski, told a tale (topic- "Stolen dogs") of having his dogs taken from his truck while in a store in Indiana. Today, while I was at the Ameli...

Re: Stolen dogs
There may be an organized campaign to steal dogs from dog boxes. I was at a field trial today and a friend, Adam Keith, who was visibly upset, said he had dogs taken from his truck in a shopping center parking lot. He knows where the dogs are and he has to go to court to recover them. He needs a law...

Re: Enough already or more time?
I bought my first Patch hounds in 1971- a male and female out of Anderson's Patch. (I still have the AKC papers) Today I have 4 that I run. My own opinion is that (a) Patch hounds mature late and you can't really see their potential until they are at least 2 to 3 years old; (b) Much of the original ...
