Just remember "natural" supplements are NOT regulated. No one knows proper dosage (no clinical trials are REQUIRED, too expensive for most companies) Just keep in mind snake venom is all natural, but I wouldn't want to drink it. Phenobarb shouldn't cause liver damage if you are on the correct dosage...

If you are using a 10cc syringe you are overdosing your dogs. You need a 1cc syringe, and you give 1/10 of that, up to the FIRST line, 0.1cc. If you are giving 1cc you are giving 100x the recommended dosage, WHICH is already an overdose. (long story, but for heartworm prevention you actually use LES...

No stir at the Penn conference about corona virus this year. Whatever vets were having problems with the vaccine didn't speak up this year at one of the largest veterinary conventions. We still give it as recommended in the product literature. We did switch a cat vaccine, but that is a post for anot...

Lyme vaccine is not 100% effective. Your dog can still get Lyme disease even with the vaccine. You could be using tick prevention (frontline/advantix) which should keep the ticks from attaching. They can't transmit lyme without attaching to the dog. There are some good collars, like PREVENTIC and TI...

I use Sentinel, which is just fancy Interceptor (just has flea prevention added to it) It is given monthly. You don't have to worry about strongid (nemex) or any other types of wormers, your Interceptor acts as a WORMER as well as heartworm prevention. If you THINK the dog has rounds or hooks you ca...

Ivermectin doesn't need to be kept in the fridge. Just keep it out of direct sunlight, at room temp is best. If you keep it in its protective box (out of light) that is even better. Don't let it get too hot or too cold. I use a combo heartworm/wormer/flea control called Sentinel. It protects against...

No vaccine is 100 percent effective and every vaccine can have side effects. We often choose the side effects over the actual disease because they usually aren't as bad as the original disease. Why vaccinate for corona? Why vaccinate your kids for diptheria?? It makes them sick(just the vaccine) and...

Wowsers. I think Jeffn covered it... Just besure to contact your local ag extension, or animal control officer. In some states a vet must administer your rabies vaccine in order for it to be "legal" and they can inform you for YOUR AREA how long a rabies shot is good for. Almost all rabies shots are...

You don't have a syringe with enough lines! You need a 1cc syringe with TEN lines. Even at that dose, you are WELL overdosing for heartworms at 0.1cc per month. Get another syringe. Using the "ten line" 1cc syringe you will give ONE TINY line, or a tenth (0.1cc) for any beagle. Make sure they test h...

 I'm surprized at the vet prices in Tenn! I work for a vet, and here in PA that visit would have cost you a lot more! (We aren't far out of Phillie) I think you got a bargain. We use an ointment in our office called furacin, they use it on horses as well/ But with sutures or staples you shoul...

Is she still drinking from mom? If mom won't hold still I'd force her to lay still for the smaller one to drink, and continue supplementing. I'm a fan of KMR powder, you mix it up as you need it, so there is no waste, but if goats milk and pedialyte are all you got, as long as she gains at least lit...

Maybe tape... I'll agree. Take some stool to the vet for analysis. If you got some weird parasite you don't need it spreading all over creation... Most think tapeworms are large, but the parts that get passed are really "egg packets" that aren't alive at all. (BUT THEY DO MOVE...Gross...Anyway) They...

Red mange is caused by a mite known as the demodectic mite, or "demodex" Interestingly, this mite is not contagious. All dogs have demodex, just like all humans carry mites. (yes, folks, we have little critters living on us, eating our dandruff and living in our eyelashes and such ALL THE TIME. 99.9...
