Re: Blown Disk

Your dogs may have a misaligned spine as opposed to a slipped disc. Either way, the nerves to the rear end get pinched resulting in weakness, incontinence and pain. I have had it happen to all of my beagles (5) at one time or another. My best solution is to skip the steroids given by the vet, they m...

Re: 78 degrees one day 6 inches of snow the next

I live in Beeton, Ontario and am sick to death of snow. It is coming down again today like crazy. It was warm on Sunday and back to cold Monday. My furnace has been acting up for the last two weeks and I have been working on baseboard and electric heaters. I am tired of being cold. No furnace since ...

Re: Feeding dogs bones?

I have been feeding my dogs raw chicken for over 3 years. They are unbelievably healthy. I feed raw backs. Feeding legs or the larger bones causes problems with digestion in a small dog like a beagle. Larger dogs can eat the whole carcass. I also give raw beef bones (marrow) to help in teeth cleanin...

Re: Running Rats

I see my dogs nosing around where I think there might be mouse nests and encourage them with 'mouse, where's the mouse.' They get all excited and snort and snuff and sometimes they eat a few. Then we go find rabbits. Maybe I'm not serious enough but the pig beagles on mouse nests crack me up. They s...

Re: Beagle ear infections

In my 16 years with beagles, I have learned that yeast infections in ears generally relate to diet. If you remove the sugar from the diet, the yeast goes away. The sugar comes from carbohydrates or grains. Most commercial dog foods contain grains. Once I left kibble behind and fed raw chicken and no...

I have 2 beagles, aged 6 and 13. The old dog is a great reading dog and the young one is nicknamed fruit cake. I also board dogs so the inventory changes from time to time.

I have used this one... most of a loaf of white bread, heavily buttered. Helps to protect colon and provides bulk to move things along. You can also try a child glycerine suppository rather than an enema, way less invasive and painful. Happy scooping and maybe learning to keep the candy high up. Dog...

Do not give your dog tylenol. It has a very negative effect on the liver. Try baby aspirin if anything. Vitamins might not hurt, they pee out whatever is not needed. A good quality balanced diet with some fresh veg and meat would be the best ongoing help for a hard working dog. Carolyn

How would you rate raw whole chicken backs, bone and meat and a mix of raw ground vegetables? Nothing like the real thing. No vet bills, healthy happy dogs with no weight, tooth, ear, eye, fat, energy, worm problems. No baked, boiled, extruded, fried, fat added etc. food. Add a little salmon oil, so...
