Re: Bitter-sweet part of gun hunting
Follow up...This rabbit turned out to be just what we needed to finish the mess of rabbit in the freezer. My brother and his family came over and we had a blast. Our wives browned the rabbit in a cast iron skillet (then set it in the stove to finish cooking). Finished it out with mashed potatoes, sw...

Bitter-sweet part of gun hunting
I got to take my dogs out tonight for the first time in two weeks. Between teaching school and working part time at Lowe's, I have to capitalize on hunting when I can. (Even brought the wife along, she loves to go!) I usually carry the single shot shotgun around, but rarely fire a shot. I have hunte...

Re: Color affect price?
Never heard of "silver" beagles. How exactly does one come about that color scheme?

Color affect price?
Curious...and thought I'd toss the question out. How much do you think color affects the price of a dog? Are there colors that seem to sell better? Quality of the dogs being equal, size being equal, etc.
Not selling any myself, just curious what others out there thought.

Christmas Eve in Kansas
My area of Kansas was fruitful today. My little hunting buddy is sick so I hunted solo today for about 6 1/2 hours. Dogs jumped and ran at least 14 rabbits in 6 different spots. Not sure of the actual number lost count at 14. At one point had 2 separate races, 4 rabbits on the ground, and never fire...

Re: Yotes
Dale, There have been some good videos on Youtube about trapping in general and trapping coyotes. Some things work, and some don't. Most important though, don't give up. Trapping takes time, lots of time. You will learn little things along the way that work for you and your area. Be patient with you...

Re: Great time with LoneBeagle and his Father
We had a great time down there. The dogs performed well and it was music to the ears. But hunting with this group of guys was right up there with the race. Many laughs and much bull got shot. Great group of fellas that spawned a friendship. Definitely see more trips for us in the future! Nice to kno...

Re: coyote trapping
Side note here, I used 1 1/2" traps here in Kansas. A man could always double trap set and catch 2 feet instead of 1. I did this on a couple of trap -wise coyotes. Used a wet set in a creek bed, and did well. I've had Duke 1 1/2" double coil traps hold coyote, coon, bobcat, and otter. Could try a co...

Re: Beagle starting...Questions galore!
Time is the key. I got them into a good spot Sunday. They jumped, ran the track, and started barking on the track. This is what we needed. I was on the phone with a fellow beagler from Ohio when they jumped the first one. He made it to a hole. We continued and they jumped 6 more. All the time, effor...
