Do dogs need to be pre-qualified for this hunt.

Re: OK folks I need answers ........

I agree with keeping a female in good condition untill they deliver. Regular exercise is a good thing. I would avoid more stressful situations like large pack action or running in extreme heat. A couple early morning rabbits wouldn't hurt IMO. Once they start to show or bag up I am more carefull. Do...

Re: Dog Food Your Opinion?

A dog with excellent nutrition will outperform a dog with mediocre nutrition. Some of us run dogs consistently and hard. Takes huge endurance to make it through a week of training just to be tuned in for the competition hunt. Quality controll should play a big role in the decision of what to feed. W...

Re: Black Gold

Every company puts some money into advertising. Black Gold sponsors a few events and programs. They have a strong product so putting it in the hands of those who succeed at a given venue is a great way to advertise a quality product. I won a bunch and learned it is excellent feed. Hard to get where ...

Re: How bout Hunt Question?

Could training be a factor? If a dog is started by taking it along to pack in with dogs allready running, then it doesn't need to START tracks. A dog started solo Must jump and run its own rabbit. Is starting a pup with sight chases a factor? Interesting thread!

Re: Top show lines

Leroy is sired by GRCH GRHBCH White River Beau Of Touchstone. Beau was also bred to GRCH Briarhill Kala Of Touchstone. Kala had excellent search and Jump and excellent line control but was medium speed and did not open until the rabbit was up. Bred to Beau the pups have excellent speed and search bu...

Re: Where are we Headed???

I have hunted with beagles 40+ years. Have only been involved in hunt competitions a little more than 10 years. A few things I have noticed.... Hunt competition beagle breeders seem to invest far more energy and time in what they have rather than concentrating on what they could get. Have you ever b...

Re: How much for stud fee

Some of the show dogs charge more for stud fees. Might want to learn more about the dog. Beau has been a strong reproducer. He is in the Hall Of Fame, Was #1 in UKC Hunting Beagle Format, Has produced both multiple National and World show winners and Challenge series Hunt winners and I usually have ...

Re: Studs Dogs and Frozen Semen

I only have four tubes = 2 breedings on GRCH GRHBCH White River Beau Of Touchstone. For the most part it is expensive and not many want to breed their females artificially. Good for females far away! Have used a few tubes but Beau is still gettin it up so haven't really needed it much yet. Probably ...

I agree with Alabama John.

If your female is that close I would not hesitate to breed her as long as she has hunt traits and physical traits that you value.

Re: Inconsistent measuring ARHA Little pack

I am not very active at little pack hunts. I have been to a few and my dogs usually placed and I enjoyed hanging out and listening to the dogs run. I called them at the office listed on their website. I explained why I felt the measuring explanaion should be reviewed. I specifically pointed out that...

Re: more time or cull

A dog needs to be proficient solo and in a small pack before being thrown in with a large pack. If the dog is not yet proficient give him more FIELD time. Always best to start packing a dog with dogs that don't put big pressure on them. Too much pressure on a young dog will hurt more than help. Afte...

Re: Ohio Senate passed (effecting us all)

A republican bill signed by a republican governor. Sounds like they will be putting an end to high volume breeders/puppy mills that don't jump through all the right hoops. Seems like needed legislation for the most part. Doesn't seem like much will change for a hobby breeder that has maybe one litte...

Re: Kennel Tags / Dog tags

I am fortunate to live in Columbiana County, Ohio. I do pay for a kennel in the years I plan on raising pups for sale. They decide if you are a kennel based on the intention you have of breeding rather than the number of dogs owned. The kennel L is $60. Was $40 last year They show up unanounced ever...
