Re: Rabbit recipes

Flour, and Joe's stuff, (Joe's stuff is only available from the New Orleans School of cooking) brown in oil until crispy. Add water and simmer for 2-3 hours turning occasionally so as not to burn pieces on the bottom of the pan. The meat will be falling off the bone and there will be a little gravy ...

Bowguy : Hang in there, my hounds speak for themselves, I just look after them. Keep Looking Up. D.R.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~>> :check: EXACTLY and what I have been trying to say but Daddy Rabbit said it short and sweet. I never made or taught a hound in my life and they always actually taught me a t...

Re: Gone With the Wind

Good post harechaser and I have described Mark Carder's dogs many times after watching his videos, as rabbit hounds. Never even mentioned if they were my style or not because any dog that pursues it's quarry as they do is my style because they are a rabbit dogs that one can put meat on the table wit...

Re: Gone With the Wind

There is actually NO science involved in all this hound dog running style because it is ALL OPINION. What I consider fast, slow, air, ground scent etc is a matter of my opinion as I have never in ALL my years of following hounds smelled a single thing this ole dogs do. I've seen coon hounds stick th...

Re: Gone With the Wind

Lucky for me I grew up in Minersville PA in Schuylkill County, and as u can imagine, yeppir it’s Coal Country. Still run the stripping banks and old coal fields. If they can run em there they can run em anywhere. You are even luckier to still be able to have them as well as hunt them. I would have ...

Re: Gone With the Wind

I also remember those ole farm dogs as that is all we ever had when I was a kid. We had dogs that were locally bred and raised here in this area and we never traveled to buy or bred dogs back then. Was barely able to care for a dog or two let alone afford driving long distances to do so. A lot of fa...

Re: Gone With the Wind

Hay, I was on the Rabbitdog web sight, for a long time, one day someone ask me what I Thought about the Black Creeks, I owned one, myself and he made a Field Champion, in the P.P. progressive Pack, division.. Then he had to run in the Champion Class, he never did get another First place? So when I ...

Re: Gone With the Wind

I'll have to agree with you Shady. I am probably in the same age bracket as you and Newt. Yes, it is getting harder and harder to find places to run dogs much less hunt and I said long ago that if one doesn't have their own property in some years they will have no place to hunt. From that point to t...

Female's heat cycle

I've got two females that are coming 9 years old that seem to NOT be coming into heat. One of them came in last year but I caught her late and if the other one did I sure never realized it. Normally that one is NO problem telling. Neither one of them have ever been bred so I'm wondering if they may ...

Re: Need a class for oversize dogs?

I understand people love to debate issue's of any / every kind ... it's human nature ! But the bottom line here is that these registries have set guidelines , They are in black & white and have been in place for several years . Either abide by them or pay the price JMHO . Really seems to bother tho...

Re: Need a class for oversize dogs?

The registry is to blame because they mandate a breed conformation standard with a zero tolerance on being over 15" but no standard method for assuring that standard is met. Of course if they had a standardized method of measuring such as setting them up on a bench like in a bench show that too woul...

Re: ear mite remedy...

HatterasBob, those two medicines were the go to ones in my younger years. I do not hear much about them any more but back then any cut or abrasion got the Merthiolate or Mercurochrome treatment.

Re: Need a class for oversize dogs?

The registry establishes THEIR rules and if THEIR rule is 13" to 15" then it matters NOT if taller hounds have a place in the hunting world because that registry has made the determination they have none in theirs. That then means one that wants, likes and has dogs over 15" has to go to a registry ...

Will any G2 or G3 receiver will marry up with my G-3 Trashbreaker transmitter regardless of the model it came from as long as it is an EXP receiver?
