Starting pups in thick briars....
I am trying to ensure my med. fast hounds have gears and can run equally well in the thick briars as in the open creek bottoms. I know gears has a lot to due w/ their breeding, but I want to control their environment / experiences to shape the outcome the best I possibly can. I have learned that it ...

Donnie-
I have two littermate pups to your Nitro dog - a male and a female. Was just curious how your dog is doing. You can post here or email me at pburns@expressgroup.com
Thanks!

Well, I guess I am now claiming to be from TN. Lived in NC most my life, but married a girl from Murfreesboro, TN and we are moving back to her next of the woods. I am actually loading the moving truck in the AM and heading out. Already got the kennel built in TN and will be hauling the hounds tomor...

Thanks Big Dog for the advise, I will try and solo him as much as I can in the next mo. and see what happens. Hopefully, I will be surprised! Patch - these dogs are not related at all. They are both about 3 years old and have not yet been bred. The male is the result of linebreeding and the female i...

Breeding Question
I have a male that I am back and forth on whether or not I want to breed to him. Let me start by tellling what I like. I like a dog that hunts hard and does not stop all day long. I like a dog that runs as fast as possible - running the rabbit to eat it when possible, but will slow way down and work...

Preferred Age of Pup
When buying a pup do you prefer to buy a 7 - 8 week old pup, a 6 mo. old pup ready to start or a 6 - 9 mo. old pup that has been started? Second part of the question.....if the 7 - 8 week old pups was $150 would you be willing to pay $250 for the same pup that had been started? I was just thinking t...

I administer all my dogs shots except rabies. I buy the shots at Tractor Supply Co. (TSC). So far I have had good success and saved a bundle! Most dogs don't seem to really mind get a shot. If you have one that is more difficult, get someone to assist you my talking to the dog and tapping on the top...

Thanks!

Don't know for sure w/out seeing the dog - but possibly the other dogs are too strong or fast for the pup. I had a slower female that would always slip off to find her own rabbit b/c she did not want to run w/ a faster pack. Even if she started a track, once the others got on it and passed her, she ...
