I've used cedar for years on the advice of my vet. Had a dog's eyes get infected from straw many years ago. I use it in their dog houses, in my dog box, and even sprinkle it on the ground in my kennels to keep them smelling fresh. I can drop the tailgate and the dogs will be right on track. There is...

Ranger, Sounds like you have a great prospect there. They do have excellent noses, run a very tight line, and if not just turned loose in a starting pen, but actually worked with, do have decent hunt. That's the line I have, but I have and do cross with K-Buck, which puts tons of hunt in the dogs an...

Could be cochidia (sp) which is pretty common for pups. Whip worms will also cause this, but I would bet on cochidia. Don't know if what you are using takes care of that are not. A vet can take a stool sample and tell you for sure.

Many dogs that come from "big" breeders and even a lot of trialers have never been ran solo in their life! So....they become pack dogs unable to circle a rabbit on their own. That's always been my big argument, a dog is not a complete dog until he has been and can run solo and consistently bring the...

A lot of dogs do it just because it tastes good to them. There are usually a lot of undigested remnants left in waste, so for my two cents the lack of nutrition just doesn't add up. In earlier posts the same thing was said about dogs eating grass. Once again, just my two cents, that's not about nutr...

I solo for one main reason, to make sure no young dogs turn into "me-too" pack hounds. You know the ones, they look great running with a pack, but turn them out by theirselves and they can't run a rabbit 100 yards. By running them solo they can't depend on others in the pack picking up the checks fo...

I'll say it for the last time, yes this fault can be fixed. Drew read one of my earlier posts and you should get some ideas. If you want to know more email me. As far as what someone said in an article, once upon a time people thought the world was flat until someone else proved them wrong! I'm not ...

Drew, Just my two cents... A cold nose dog is one that can smell a track that others have problems tracking. This can be due to conditions, the scent being older, etc. A dog with a cold nose is not the same as one that cold trails. At least in my, and the ones I associate with, terms. A cold nosed d...

I've also read a lot of books on breeding, etc. But Steve, now you are saying two different things! Yes, back tracking is a fault, as you said this time. I have never argued that, but it is a fault that can be fixed. As far as your question of what Willet Randall would do, personally I don't know an...

Say what you want....but back tracking is NOT heriditary. No more so than running off game, etc. To make one thing clear, I don't tolerate it either, and I don't personally have any that do backtrack. BUT, I have broke others that have done it. Most times it's caused by environment, not heridity. To...

Yes you can break a dog from back tracking IF you catch it early. Shocking is one way, but only as a last resort. If you run behind your dogs when you train them you can solve these problems before they become set-in traits!! Usually when they first start, if you stand in the track and wave your hat...

I would get him to the vet right away. Does the diarrhea have a worse odor than usual. Could be parvo, but it's unusual this time of the year. Could be hook work or cochidia(sp), which is common in pups and young dogs. Trembling is a sign that something serious is going on, get him to the vet!

Could be epilepsy, a common occurrence in beagles. Another could be blood sugar levels. Have your vet check him out, many symptoms don't appear until after the dog is a year or older.

Pro Pac, made and distributed from Evansville, Indiana. The ingredients tell the story, you want a feed that has meat as a main ingredient. They do have a website, not sure of the address, but it will show distributors that may be in your area. A little pricey, runs around $22 for a 33 pound bag, bu...
