Re: AKC rule change - May change Dog's Official Name

I'm CKC and we name the pups desired by the new owners. 9 times out of 10 they are sastified with the call name THEY put on it and are happy with suggestions from the breeder as well on the registered name . I bought a Branko pup in 2006, I didn't have to put Krpan's kennel name on him but I did out...

Re: Collar Lights

I use Marshall collars that have the built in lights. I don't use them often only if I know we are running in the summer nights where they may cross onto farmers properties, etc. Kind of gives them the heads up I hope that it's not a crazy dog out there. They come in a variety of colors, I have blue...

Re: Cold weather hunting

I remember taking a real good hound out last winter to "test" it to see if it could get a rabbit going in -22 with -33 windchill (Canadian temps) in woods along the coast so we could catch her easily to see if she had the nose for it. We dressed for the cold, it took her about 20 minutes after we wa...

Re: Boy talk about dead, so what about angles

I am expecting my first litter next month. How soon do you know they have show potential? what exactly are you looking for besides good porportions, tail sets, etc ? Are tails taken back some on these dogs or are they naturally beautiful? Cindy, how soon do you decided to sell to a pet home if one i...

Re: Boy talk about dead, so what about angles

It didn't fizz him a bit, took him a day to rest, he wasn't sore. I was VERY concerned about that as he's 6, and not in condition as my field hounds. Normally we run in the open and thank goodness I didn't do that. We got soooo much snow I can't seem to get any hounds out. I am planning to register ...

Re: Boy talk about dead, so what about angles

Cindy, the hound you got from Larry "Lanbur Curley Joe" was he not trained in the field ? He's a dual hound both field and show? His confirmation is excellent as an older hound you are showing him and he's winning. I bought a show hound in late fall and he's 6 years old. I took him out to a friend r...

Re: Getting a bitch to stand

That's what I surmised but some just like ole mother nature to take it's course! I will pass that along about the platform, seems to be a really good idea given the male is smaller. Might just make him feel like a really big fella!
Thanks,

Getting a bitch to stand

I have a friend that has a dominant bitch that she has trouble getting to stand for a male. The male of her choice is somewhat smalller do you think he's submissive ?? what would be suggested to do to get her to stand for next heat?

Re: Uno Makes History Again!

I have been offline for a while because I have moved myself and hounds out to the country. All I can say to you Leah is WoW! We all know it takes a tremendous amount of time and energy to train a field hound but no idea for a show hound. Congradutations for the wonderous feat you accomplished with U...

Ear mites maybe?
I had that on 3 of my field beagles in late fall and treated them with bag balm, it cleared it up in 5 days. Just the tips were yucky.

My Branko male's tail won't grow the hair back now, I'm taking it all the way back. I am getting tired of the poor fellow bleeding in the woods everytime it gets healed up. It's the swing he has. It was okay this summer because of the foliage as a buffer but last winter he was anemic, it's not worth...

I have a hound that's almost a year old and her body shape is like a whippet. Built for speed... and she looks like she is starving to death. It tried almost everything to get fat on her and no luck. She is even fed twice a day, it's just the way her metabolism is. She's about 14 inches now and a fa...
