I'll try to help as much as I can. Brace hounds are not hunting dogs, they are hobby dogs. I saw one being started "once" and it was sickening. I think that thing barked about 7 or 8 times before each step. I dont know brace rules and really dont want to. I have been told that alot of the SPO hounds...

Bev, you are right on when you say that I messed up with not breeding him but here is the main reasons. 1) He was a born deer dog, raised a deer dog, and had many deer killed in front of him. 2) He was probably 16 to 16.5 inches tall. I assume he was out of some old Hare hound blood which seems to b...

That was a good post Bev and here is my input on it. I have both grade and AKC hounds. I however, hunt rabbits, not trophies. I love to attend trials but not for glory or whatever else some folks do it for. That is their choice and I respect it. I grew up hunting deer with dogs and never, ever, had ...

Any info or experience with Buck's Branch Kalagha dogs.
I am thinking hard on breeding my male that is out of Kalagha. He is a fine hound that is still young but really no faults in the field as far as I am concerned. He is having seziures from time to time and although they are not bad or life threatening, I am cautious of breeding him because of this. ...

I hate to agree with them but I somewhat do. I like to see folks running their ignorant mouths. It gives me a laugh when I need one. Just turn the T.V. to CNN and grab a beer. This is America, land of the free. Free to say what ever stupid thought comes to mind. Trust me, those liberals have plenty ...

Thanks for all the replies. I might have put the wrong word down in my title. I should have said I am looking to add another step or two to my dogs. I dont want to breed to a lightning fast, wide swinging hound that will take the line control away or one that outruns his nose.. I may just do it from...

Looking to add some major speed to my pack through breeding.
I have been pondering the idea of purchasing a dog out of faster lines to add some more speed to my dogs. I like my dogs and they can bring rabbits to the gun all day at a solid medium speed. I dont like wide swinging dogs in my pack even though I enjoy watching them run. I have been thinking about ...

Yes, we would look at you funny the first time you opened your mouth and if you didnt have a dog in the back of your truck. lol  Down here in the Heart of Dixie, we only have to keep our dogs penned during spring turkey season. You can run at night, only after dark and not after 3am. In Tn, the...

Yes there is kind of beagle called a warfield red and is becoming more and more rare. My late uncle raised nothing but warfields. I am sure there are some bloodlines out there that are proven but they are so rare now it seems that I have not seen many lately. Hill's Shakerag Kennels had one at last ...

Remember a young dog is like a child. It only has a short attention span. Just take it out for few hours and come home. I would go to a starting pen though. IF it is a good one it will only take a few days. I usually give my pups about a week or maybe two depending on how much my friend works them. ...
