I'm on my second pair of 800 gr. Rocky Bearclaws, the first pair lasted three years. This pair is leather/cordura, and seems to be holding up even better. In mild weather, I just wear my uninsulated Red Wing comfort zone work boots....

Usually a good morning hunt, 4-5 hours. Unfortunately, i'm not as young and in shape as I used to be, and I have a alot more family time than I used to.. ( don't keep my hounds in top shape, like I should, either.. )....but we do a few all day hunts by the middle/end of gun season..

If my schedule allows me to get a younger hound in the field and have plenty of opportunity, it should be started by 8-10 mos. old. By a year old, it needs to show me that little something extra that makes one worth keeping, and ...

I really like the hunt mine has.......I have never seen a mouthy Northway hound and they know how to find the bunnies..I would like to mention that these hounds have brains too, they always seem to adjust to the conditions to account for their game and not get over-competitive.

In my opinion there is already too much emphasis put on titles. I sure don't think they should start handing them out to hounds that could've been....

I have been out there a few times. The way to go is state park cabin rentals..(cheap and close to the hunting), you can reserve them on-line.
