22's or Shotguns
I was wondering if any of you would have a problem if a hunter wanted to use 22's when hunting over your dogs? The reason I ask is because I met another beagler a couple of weeks ago while hunting and he was surprised to see that we were using 22's. He said he would never use a rifle when hunting wi...

Re: invisible fence
I have the invisible fence brand with a hard wire. A friend of mine installed it. I don't think that I will ever own a house without it again. Once you make the initial investment of buying the mother board and the collars it is really cheap to buy new wire if you would ever move from home to home. ...

Question on a dogs skills improving
I have a young Branko female that will be year old at the end of the month. She has just come through her first hunting season and we killed about 50 rabbits in front of her this year. She is my only dog so I haven't had the opportunity to she her run with other dogs yet. I believe she is doing well...

Re: Beagling Courtsey
I've been running beagles in some fashion for 15 years now and I don't think that I have ever once came upon another beagler in the woods. That being said I certainly wouldn't want to get in the way of someone elses hunting. It would be nice if there were a few other houndsman in my area. But I can ...

Teaching "Here"
I have a 9 month old pup that is doing well running rabbits. I have been working on getting her to come when called and I know that she knows what it means because when I have a 50 ft check cord on her she comes like its her job. In the field she comes some of the time but every now and then she wil...

Good to be coming home
Well we are finally on our way home from Afghanistan. It will be good to get home and get the hound out again. My dad has been running her in Northern Wisconsin in my absence and she is coming along fine. A 9 month old female out of Brankos Kasey and Scarlett O’hara. She is still a puppy but my dad ...

Buschbound, Do you have a picture of the spring loaded doors that you put on your houses. I live in western Wisconsin and right now my dog house has a rubber flap but the pup chews on it and it gets smaller and smaller over time. Just wondering what material you use for your doors and how they work....

Dry Ears
All, About 2 weeks ago my dog developed an ear problem. It happened just a day or two before I had her spayed at the vet. They put her on antibiotics for 14 days and it seemed to clear up some but she has completed the medication now and she still has dry skin on the inside of her ear. It looks like...

Innoteck Beagle Master Collar
I'm looking at getting a training collar. I know there are many posts on collars but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this collar system from Innotek. Let me know the pros or cons. Thanks.

New pup question
I'll be getting a new pup from Branko's kennel in about 2 weeks. After 2 years of military deployments it's good to be home and get back into beagling. I'd like to get my pup exposed to rabbits right away. I was wondering what kind of rabbits you guys use for a young pup to sight chase. I can trap s...

Re: Shipping dog in from Canada
Big River,
I will be picking up a puppy from Brankos kennels around May 17th. I don't know if your pup is in that area but I live down near Minneapolis MN. If your pup is in Brankos area maybe we could work something out. Let me know. peter.ament@gmail.com

Bluetick Beagles
I was wondering if anyone knew how the bluetick color got into beagles? This is an honest question. Until this board I had never seen a bluetick or a lemon colored beagle. Most of the dogs that I have experience with were tri-color. Was this color combination brought in by crossing beagles with larg...

Pup Information
I'm getting a new pup in a few months from the Branko kennel.
The cross is Brankos Kasey and Brankos Scarlett O'Hara.
Just wondering if anyone has any pups from either of these dogs and how they are working out.

I actually live in Western WI, New Richmond to be exact but we were hunting near my parents home with is just south of Rhinelander. I'm sure that Iron Mountain has a good population though. We were hunting in 14 to 16 inches of snow in the woods. Made for some slow going but the hares were running e...

I live right on the border where hare and cottontail split in Wisconsin. When we run snowshoes it's always in a thick cedar swamp or a clear cut that is a couple of years old and the aspen shoots are starting to come up. We will rarely run a cottontail when we are in snowshoe country and vice versa....
