Re: Shy and Timid Beagle

Whenever I have a timid acting dog I always tie them up beside the door of the house that we always go in and out of, that way they get used to seeing people all the time. Also, the first couple weeks of doing this whenever I come out of the house I will go up to them and give them a treat while I'm...

Re: KY Trainer Needed

Mike Klaiber, he is in southern Ohio if your in the NE part of Kentucky. He has a good running pen and seems to do a pretty good job. I took my first beagle to him to get started...and she was running rabbits when i came to get her. I hunted with her all last year and have took her out a few times t...

Re: What's the ultimate rabbit gun

I like a model 12, but I haven't been able to afford another one that is less than full choke. For the time being I've been using a Browning Gold 20 gauge.

Re: AKC RIP OFF

Just got the papers in today that I had to pay a late fee on. It was I think 55 dollars. I didn't expect to pay that much...but after talking to the people on here i figured it was worth it since I was going to breed her.

Re: Muck Boots

I like my Red Wings steel toes. They are a little heavy, but I don't ever feel any briars. I've only had them a year, but I've hunted hard in them and when they get scratched up I just pull out the saddle soap and the polish and give them a good rubdown.

Re: Pup testing my patience

I've got a pup...or dog...that's about a year and a half. She was in a kennel all her life and was never ran or hunted. I brought her home and within a week I had her in the starting pen. In a couple weeks time she was running rabbits really good. I've still got alot of work to do with her, but she'...

Re: Ruger red label 20 guage

I'd say this forum is for just about everything...it's just that alot of people really aren't going to take a nice Ruger red label through the briar patch :) . I know some people will...but I have a Browning Gold Golden Clays that has never saw a briar...that's for my Mossy.

Re: Deer Proof Dogs?

My dogs have ran deer before...I was just lucky enough to have the collars on them. After a couple good fryings with the collar, they seem to leave the deer alone, but they still like to track a squirrel every now and then. I've got a black & tan/ beagle that can run squirrels just as good as rabbit...

Re: question on negative brucellosis test

I just called my local vet and it's going to cost me $52 to get my little female checked out. Just registered her through AKC (late puppy papers) and they sent me a free vet checkup. It's still going cost me for the brucellosis test.

Re: Dog Eating Hay

pretty steep for the bales, how big are they? About the same size as a normal square bale of hay? I might put some straw or pine chips in for him...but it would be way too expensive for me to get the swamp grass...even if I could find it around here. Thanks for the info though.

Re: Dog Eating Hay

The feed store by me recommends what they call swamp grass instead of hay. I though it was just due to price but maybe it has something to do with hay being used for feed. My dogs have never eaten the swamp grass. Well, the price of the hay isn't a problem...I have around 300 bales in the barn, all...

Dog Eating Hay

Hey everyone...weird story. We took the dogs out this morning to run at the WMA up the road and as most of you know...they have to get all the $h!t and vinegar out of them before they start running. Well something really odd happened today... When one of the dogs, Twister, came back after pooping it...

No Kennels, but In the past couple days I've built two nice dog houses out of rough cut Oak. You could drive a truck over them...it was hell putting screws in...but I bet they should last a while.

Re: Shock System

I have a Classic 70 G2 EXP and it's a great system IMO. I only have 3 collars for it right now, but in the near future I'm planning on getting a couple more collars for it. I'm the second owner, but it was hardly used and in great shape. I'll have more in two collars than what I paid for the whole s...
