Re: Looking for an OLD RETIRED dog

Skip,

Long time no talk.... Curious what do you have left? Assume it must be buttermilk or the female that was out of her and gunner. Hope you find what your looking for. You ought to come jump in the truck and tree some bears.

If this doesn't give you some perspective on the importance of protecting our hunting rights nothing will. Thanks for serving cousin and for protecting my freedom to live in the greatest country in the world where I can participate in one of my biggest passions in life Hounding. Terry Maniez is a na...

Re: Stine Time Ivy

This is a picture of Smith Bros. Lil Gunner Boy who was out of Shady Creek Boogity Boogity and Stine Time Ivy. Also pictured is Pj's Copper boy at 6 months old. Boogity was a hard hitting line driving dog. He won the first two AKC Midwest trials he was ever entered in. He was an unbelievable good so...

Re: Stine Time Ivy

I'm sure we text last night about Ivy. I gunned with Ivy a lot. Saw her run multiple times in the woods in some extreme northern Michigan conditions. There are no dogs with a better nose IMO. Maybe as good but not better. She had a nose like you couldn't believe and she had the hunt and drive to go ...

Re: Best performance of a male and female that you have seen

I couldn't even remember who won I just knew about 10 minutes into the winners pack I wasn't playing for a top 2 finish. Those two dogs were absolutely burning the fur off the rabbit. That cool thing was we were in a place where the gallery could see literally everything that was going on. I really ...

Re: Best performance of a male and female that you have seen

Sunset Scooter and Blackies T Rex at North Central Ohio. I drew out in two cast with Scooter and I thought I had two pretty good dogs in the trial both of which made the winners pack that day. However Scooter was amazing to watch run vs what I knew my two dogs to be. He locked on a couple rabbits an...

Re: Hound Absessed Tooth

Why do most vets discourage raw diet. I've asked several and they almost all to a T discourage it. They say there are nutrients in dog food a dog needs. I'm not disputing your knowledge or that it would help or be better I'm just curious why. I've always been told part of healthy teeth is dog food.

Re: Hound Absessed Tooth

Randy that has been my biggest fear is that it will be a reoccurring problem. Vet said to brush his teeth good once a week or so. I probably will have too.

Re: Hound Absessed Tooth

We do almost all of our own vetting on simple things at home. When I first noticed he had some facial swelling and possibly infected tooth I gave him penicillin for three days through injection. I waited two to three days after and all symptoms were the same. After taking him in the vet said I was t...

Re: Hound Absessed Tooth

Little update I jumped the gun a little on the problems. After four days he is doing 95% better all swelling is gone and no coughing or wheezing. The blood and the coughing and wheezing had me really concerned. This guy has been very good to me over the last couple seasons. He just turned two and is...

Re: Hound Absessed Tooth

Right after extraction did you notice any wheezing and coughing? Doc says its drainage which makes sense but it caught my attention quickly this morning. He ate a little today which I think is a good sign but doesn't seem to drink much water. Its just been over 24 hours now so maybe more time will e...

Hound Absessed Tooth

Anyone have any dealings with abscessed tooth removal in a hound. I took my lead dog to the vet yesterday and had his tooth removed as it was badly infected and abscessed they said. He had swelling in his face etc. They kept him 7am until around 6pm when I picked him up. His swelling was worse when ...

Re: top ten--in worst conditions--

Watched a cotton tail rabbit jump in a creek after being absolutely pushed to the limits by Smith Bros Lil Gunner Boy, HOF Nats Tom Boy and Jr's Chilli Dog. The rabbit swam 100 yds down a creek that is waist to shoulder deep to me. Jr's Chilli dog came down the creek bank dove into the creek swam th...

Re: top ten--in worst conditions--

Good topic. Saw that stine time Ivy was mentioned...my dad a litter mate male to her that could run in most anything, and could keep the chase going. Hubs duece-he sure is missed. Never owned the dog but had hundreds of hours gunning over her and took her to several trials. The best rabbit dog I've...

Re: top ten--in worst conditions--

Greg your absolutely right. One of my favorite trials I ever attended was watching Sunset Scooter at North Central. Both of my dogs were picked up in the winners pack and 100% rightfully so they weren't the best dogs there that day by a long shot! Scooter flat out put on a flat out show. I'm not say...
