Rabbit Population up/down
I have noticed a lot of bunnies on the road the pass few months. I live in South portion of WV. I attribute this to the abundance of rain fall, which has created a lot of heavy ground cover. I am interested in hearing about other areas. I think we are on the up swing as far as rabbits populations ar...

Re: new garmin alpha and small dogs?
MaineSnowshoehunter= just a note ....I had problems with my small dogs and the DC30 collars being to big. I fixed the problem by taking foam pipe insulation and wrapping around the antenna side of the collar. I then wrapped the insulation with electrical tape. This took up enough space inside the co...

Re: Scenting conditions ?
Mightmite, Owl is giving you some good information. Conditions in my opinion play a big role in rabbit running/tracking. Also, it's about your dog. A good dog will run a great track on a good scenting day. A great dog will run a good track on a bad scenting day. On a terrible scenting day neither wi...

Re: Super Comanche 410
I found that 2.5 Rem. #6 work best in my Super Com.. I discovered this by shooting at cardboard at diffent distance. I feel confident at 15 paces. Beyond that reposition and let the dogs work some more.....lol

Re: Worming Medicine
Drontal is my vets number one choice. It takes care of all the major parasites. At $7 dollars a pill it should. One pill per 10lbs of dog. I see results in two to four days. Shinny coat and weight gain.

Re: Poison Ivy?
FYI......I have had reactions to Poison Ivy for years. If you know you've been exposed, pour 1/2 cup bleach in your bath water. Caution don't pour in too much bleach, it will wash your skins oily protective layer off. Which will allow the poison ivy to spread. Do this the sameday you become exposed....

Thanks for the comments. I guess the real question I have for you hare hunters. What's some good advice for someone going to UP Michigan hare hunting with plain old cottontail dogs?

Cottontail v/s Hare
My dogs are run on cottontails 99% of the time. Over the past few years I've gone on a hare hunt up north with the same hounds. I am pleased with these hounds on cottontails but not quite feelin the same on hare. I know you need a brush dog to jump cottontails. Will this same dog be effective on jum...

To shoot or not to shot
Just wanted to get opinions from fellow sportsman on the taking of game. We all know the state regulates the amount a hunter take in a season/day. I personally think when your're talking about rabbits/hare its important that you conserve your resourse.

Re: Hare Hunting Drummond Island
Thanks, for the information gentlemen. This will be my second trip. Last trip I shot one hare in three days.........I seem to of struck a nerve on killing rabbits.
