At the moment 6, usually keep 3-4. Oldest female is 12, she’s still a hard hunter and jumps plenty, but runs the backend now instead of the front, two 5yr olds a male and female and 3 pups at 7 months that are progressing very well, 2 males and a female, harvesting cottontails off them at 6 months.

Re: Run to catch
Typical government bureaucracy. They create a problem, then spend millions dollars pretending to fix it. In this area they are destroying, or refusing to keep rabbit habitat. They have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on duck ponds, and greenways for nature lovers. They graded and made a half...

They always waited till the pheasant hit the ground, and then hit em hard.Shady Grove Beagles wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 6:40 pm
Were those hawks picking off the pheasants in the air or on the ground?

Re: Run to catch
Dana There is a spot I run my hounds that the game commission stocks put n take pheasants (as I call them). When the hounds are running a cottontail and get close to one of the pheasants it flushes and immediately out of the trees 1-3 hawks take off after that pheasant and when he starts to fold up ...

Sorry to hear that Dave. Sounds like a good time to plan a family vacation thru Mississippi sometime in the future and make a detour for some remuneration.

Jim Sorry to hear you had to make this decision but I totally understand. It has crossed my mind a time or two with how busy Church life and Family life can be and unfortunately we all need to work. I enjoyed meeting you and the day we had running when I visited and just so you know I haven’t locked...

Re: Run to catch
It seems that on a bright sunny day the rabbits go to a hole quicker. If its foggy or cloudy they seem to stay up longer. Newt I 100pct agree on the sun vs cloudy/foggy days, also seems on real windy days they don’t wanna run like they do on a calm day around here. Deer movement seems to follow the...

Glad to hear you were able to help out Daddy Rabbit, he’s too honest and trusting of a guy to have that happen. All he wants to do is put good hounds in his customers hands. It’s ashame some guys need squeezed to pay up.

Re: Gone With the Wind
Bowguy Yes, you have challenged us to post videos and yes no one bit, but quite frankly I could get a 30 second clip of a cull and make it look good. I personally don’t video, my hounds don’t watch movies and I have no one to please but me. Any and all are welcome to come and see what I run. You may...
