Fun in the sun... NOT REALLY!

Well the 100 degree highs finally let up today in indiana so I let my 2 yr old male out t9o run a rabbit. And he was on a rabbit within 5 min or so. He ran it pretty hard for about 20 min before it found refuge in a old rock pile. After calling my dog off his mini mountain on which his proudly stood...

Re: Wolves delisted in the Western Great Lakes Region

It's about federal gov did something about a huge problem. But until they start allowing a hunting season on wolves the problem will not go away. Wolves are prolific breeders, like rabbits! And they are at the top of foodchain. There are areas were the wolves have completely wiped out elk herds. The...

Re: What is a Cheap Field Champ or a Very Good Field Champ

I can't tell you about bloodlines or trials. Can't tell you about training a champion either. My dad raised BEAGLES when I was a kid. He usually had anywhere from 10-25 dogs at a time. And at one point had over 100 dogs. He sold all his dogs when I was about ten. But he says to this day the best hun...

my favorite cover to hunt

I live on a 120 acre farm in Indiana. I love to hunt the briars thickets around the edges of corn fields. Always rabbits hiding out in there. But my favorite spot is the old barn lot its about 4 acres of saplings and tall grass with a few patches if briars and thorn trees. It's my honey hole. How bo...

Re: I have never seen this before!

How long you think a bright white rabbit will live without being able to blend in with ground cover. Easy pickets for a hawk I bet.

line work?

On my last hunt when my dog buster was working a hot trail, if we seen the rabbit we were calling buster of trail and putting him on the spot where we seen the rabbit. Is this good for my young dog? Or should we let him work the trail till he gets to the spot where we saw the rabbit? Thanks.

Re: ~~Go COLTS~~

The Christmas miracle! Lol its a pointless victory but I'll take it. At this point I would be benching all my starters and playing them just enough to keep the rust off. Next year I would expect to see a whole new team and approach. I think they need to do whatever it takes to keep mathis and freene...

eye care?

I have noticed that the day after I hunt my dog always has a lot of "eye boogers". I know its just his eyes cleaning themselves out. Is this common and what can I do too help protect his eyes?

A great day hunting!

Just finished cleaning a couple rabbits. Gonna be a good dinner! I think my hound has finally kicked the blues. He hasn't hunted well since his littermate brother died a couple months ago. But today he really impressed me. Hunted about 5 hours and he stayed busy and worked hard. He worked 6 rabbits ...
