Re: Butkus fans!!?

Dr. Chris I am just curious where you obtained this information or are you just making an educated guess? Shooter has been bred to 43 different bitches, some females were bred more than once. I know there are about 8 champions out of 1 bitch that was bred to him 2 or 3 times. You might want to chec...

Re: Won't pack up

Sometimes when some people use starting pens to train dogs it can do more harm than good if overused. They pick up habits, styles and methods that you don’t want. A “time out” is what is necessary to “reprogram” the dog into your choice of training. If they are still young enough and not “locked-in”...

Re: Extra Mouth

I wouldn’t try to shock it out of him, I would run it out of him. Some dogs are just higher strung then other dogs, they are hyped up 24/7 and it takes a much longer time, more rabbit tracks and lots of pressure from larger and faster packs for them to wise up and use their mouth right and become bo...

Re: You be the judge which dog scored the check??

The Black Dog. It’s all about the rabbit and forward progress, not about just finding it and making noise. The open marked dog found the line first but it was the Black dog that did something with it… forward progress. I give the open marked dog credit for finding it first, and I bet he or she is a ...

Re: Won't pack up

Kennel her for a month or even two. Don't take her out at all. Let her almost forget what her chosen style and method of hunt is. Many styles and habits are by “natural instinct” and in their breeding but far more are picked up and are environmental. Many young dogs are a product of their surroundin...

Re: Guys I really need some help/encouragement!

I would not worry too much, many young pups and dogs do that. I would not let it be a huge concern simply because of its age. I would however change up the method I was running it. I would stop soloing it and only run it with larger packs and I when I did run, I would make sure it was for an extensi...

Re: Butkus fans!!?

I agree with Swampman, why not go to the source. Greenbay bred, raised, started and hunted all of the dogs, he knows them so I would have to believe it when he states which one is best. I certainly wouldn’t state a dog is better than another dog on snow or any other terrain based solely on a trialin...

Albon treats respiratory, urinary, intestinal infections, therefore is very hard on the kidneys “filtering”. Kidneys are already working overtime within a “pregnant” dog. Albon is known for causing birth defects, miscarriages and inducing abortions. There should be a warning on the label. To be on t...

Re: Indian Hills Dogs

I am assuming below is what you’re looking for… Hard driving dogs with great search. They ran to “catch” a rabbit. Pretty fast hounds “8” and had great endurance. Had an average nose, extreme dry heat or extreme cold, ice and snow gave them problems, as it does with many lines. They were very compet...

I know of a great "Redtick", he may not win much on the bench, but he has great "Peripheral Vision" and has a heck of a nose. And cheap too!

Re: Fox Beagles

I believe that fox put beagles through so much more than a rabbit. Rabbits are repetitive in the way they run and even to a dog are somewhat predictable, and then goes into a hole after a short while, simply because if they are run by a dog worth his salt, the rabbit’s endurance can’t last more tha...
