Re: Patch Hound Fellows

I believe the drive from that trial to the “Adirondacks” is about 4 hours. Just for the history and experience, if I was going to go to the trial, I would add an extra day and head up to where it all began. My buddies Mike Oszust and Jim Lane had an interesting thing happen to them. Because both the...

Patch Hound Fellows

In case you have not heard, there is going to be a Willet Randall Memorial Cup/NBPPA Sectional trial and show, November 5, 2011 hosted by the New Empire Beagle Club in Buffalo, NY. It would be "fitting" if a Patch Hound brought that particular win home.

Re: The Real Problem with the quality/philosophy of Beagles

I don’t believe anybody is doing any more then expressing their opinions, though some may be more passionate then others. But a few things to keep in mind, when a person describes their dogs, training methods and progress in the field in great detail, and especially if they back it up with “videos” ...

The Real Problem with the quality/philosophy of Beagles

I don’t believe what I am hearing throughout pages of this site, I got two words for many on here “Jibber Jabber”. But I guess this is just another sign of the times. It is also in sports and other areas. Back in the day in baseball, 1971 through 1979 Bert Blyleven averaged between 273 and 325 innin...

Re: Fine Line

Are there some great hounds at a very young age? Absolutely, I can name many that finished early and produced very well early. But… even those that are great early are even better at the more experienced age of 4 or 5. You can’t replace or shortcut to pure “experience” and time on the ground. As “Oh...

A must see video!

I would love to run dogs every day, but as of right now I have a tracheotomy tube. It is very difficult to get out, and I can’t even talk. So I spend most of my time as of late on this forum, writing or emailing. It is a part of my demise that came with my cancer. On the bright side, as I have share...

Re: Question on Beagle Health ? Please

One more thing concerning “worms”. Dogs can get hookworms, whipworms and roundworms from the ground or sleeping quarters where other dogs have passed eggs before, or from their mother or the milk of their mother if she was infected during pregnancy. Dogs usually get tapeworms when they eat a flea th...

Re: Question on Beagle Health ? Please

Process of elimination… it can really only be 1 of 5 things. 1- One possibility {just as RunninHard stated} is that it could be a reaction to a lodged object such as a splinter, thorn, sand/dirt or piece of glass. If that is the case, the body builds up tissue around it and it gets really inflamed a...

Re: pennicillin???

Good info Chris, Awhile ago one of my beagles had an infection and a friend gave me some SMZ pills that worked well and cleared it up. Do you know what the "real word" term is for this antibiotic and what the dosage should be? Thanks SMZ-TMP DS is the generic equivalent of Bactrim and Septra. It is...

Re: pennicillin???

Ivermectin: For a dog weighing 30 lbs., the dose would be 4.5mg, once a day. Depending on the severity of the infection, this may be repeated until the parasites are completely gone. What type of parasites are you referring to? Ivermectin is used to prevent and treat various parasites such as heart...
