Re: top ten--in worst conditions--

Well, regardless of how they are trained, some may take off at a trial if not taught to work with thier owner. And as you know & said, you won't judge them until all of them are in the pack. You can't waste much time at a trial, so why not have them close enough to each other that it doesn't take lo...

Re: top ten--in worst conditions--

Yeah, but handling is a big part of hunting too. I don't want handlers jumping rabbits for the dogs either until I've seen how much hunt each hound has, but calling them & letting the dogs know which way you want to work is better than letting them keep traveling aimlessly until they jump a rabbit. ...

Re: The best bloodlines for hare!!

IFC Cedar Beck Oliver seems to be producing some great FC's in the LPH trials. He throws the hunt & speed you are looking for. He is an outcross of a Pacesetter/ Heli-Prop bred male & a dam with Northern MI legends, Paycheck, Texas T & Schnapps in her background. Oliver also has about 6 littermate s...

Re: top ten--in worst conditions--

mybeagles, I heard that you do a good job judging & usually place the same dogs most other judges like & place in the Mid-West. I have heard that you want the handlers to turn the dogs loose & then keep quiet & not let the handlers work them the direction you want to go & not be able to keep them to...

Re: top ten--in worst conditions--

Thanks John O & good post Markday. I like a dog that I know when he opens it's time to load my gun. I don't need to know where the rabbit was 2 hours ago; I want to know where it is now. It is very hard to get the nose we need for tough conditions & have the brains to control their mouth on old line...

Re: Kentucky Lucky x FC White Oak Creek Jada's Shanna

Nice bred & good looking hound. Bred by Scott Music; he usually only keeps females. Shana was the last dog Scott finished. She was by Showtime & his FC bitch by Lumber Easy Rider; they say Shana was a good one. I never got to see her run, but I have seen her tied out. She is beautiful; colored up li...

Re: top ten--in worst conditions--

How is a dog that lacks nose an idiot? They lack nose not brains. By the way, just because a hound doesn't open until the rabbit is up doesn't always mean it lacks nose. If they can't run a jumped rabbit they may lack nose, but barking before the rabbit is up doesn't prove more nose, but less brains...

Re: linebred gay blood

Trace back some Branko & a lot of other popular bloodlines & you will see the same hounds that Gay breeding goes back to. You will also see some of the same FC's in the slow brace hound pedigrees. This proves that it is up to the breeder to cull his pups in his own way & develop the type of hound he...

Re: linebred gay blood

I appreciate anyone that gives a lot of their time in life to breeding & training hunting beagles. Although, in my opinion, a lot of people have let their pride get in their way of doing things that would improve their line of dogs. I read somewhere a quote from a very successful breeder that said y...

Re: top ten--in worst conditions--

Beagles have been bred over the years to be a trailing hound that work together in a pack. Faults are characteristics or traits that would disrupt the pack's progress. Running mute would be a big problem & so would crying wolf & having nothing. Breeders have to balance nose & brains to fit their hun...
