Re: HAIR FALLING OUT
You said they had been run a lot...could it be dew poisoning?

Re: Independant Pup
My 8 mo. old female is doing that too and I don't know quite know how to correct her. I encourage her to go with the pack (taking her there, calling her to them) but she won't stay very long. She'll go to them when they hark sometimes, but won't always stay with them once she goes. We've been really...

Training "Down" in Field
My 8 mo. old pup will down in the house and on leash, but what is the best way to teach down when a hound is in the field without using an e-collar? When she's hunting it seems she forgets all of her commands except check, check,check... which she does very well! ![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Re: Is my female pregnant?
For info on cancer,Go to The eSPO Magazine, (http://www.espo.com) click on Vet Talk. The Sept. 1999 "Cancer in Dogs" article has a reference to breast cancer. The swelling in my little girl's glands mammary glands are shrinking each day now. ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Re: Is my female pregnant?
My female finished her first heat 10 days ago and she's showing the same way. I think it's just a hormonal thing, but I'm watching her closely. Don't want to scare anyone, but we had to put a female down last month due to breast cancer, so I am carefully watching her mammary glands.

After a bout with the Kleenex box when I read this.... I've lost 3 beloved dogs, all of which I had the opportunity to hold and say goodbye to before they closed their eyes. My husband and I both cried and mourned for weeks after each one. We were always there when they were hurt or sick, how c...

Just took a male to the vet and his mouth was full of infection. He ran fine, lots of energy, ate well, didn't seem sick at all. Only sympton was holding his head a little to one side. Although no infection showed in his blood work(thank heavens), has to be on antibotics week before teeth can come o...

P.S. I agree with Danny about finding a good houndsman with a starting pen, etc. Danny, why do you believe benching at trials is a trap? Maybe I misunderstood your comment totally but, shouldn't a good trial dog have good conformation? I'm one of those "novices" too and would really like to understa...

How old is your pup? Welcome to the "novice" category (even though there isn't one). Judging by your screen name I think you might be a female. If so...that's wonderful as I don't think there are that many women in the trialing world  My pup is a 2008 derby and I hope she's ready for trialing b...

Thanks everyone for the feedback, I'm probably just an anxious beagle parent :D She's fed x3 a day at same time each day, just a little bigger portion in morning if she's going to the puppy pen to run. Not overweight...looks real good. Since she's in the house I watch her exercise needs pretty close...

Worming up to date, vet says she's fine. She's not underweight, coat looks real good, lots of energy and developing physically on schedule. I found out her litter mates are all exactly the same way. If it isn't diet, I wondered if it could have something to do with fighting for food when she was wit...

Help!-Hungry Pup
I am new to Beagling but have had several other breeds dogs and raised puppies but I've never had this problem before. My 4 month old female Beagle (being raised in the house) acts like she's simply starved all the time! She training and runs about 3 times a week for a little while, but she's ALWAYS...
