I have three hounds off Tiger from two litters- one bitch off IFC Greenbrier Birchhaven Merlin and the other off FTC Mitsou Argenteuille Striker. All three are very nice 13" hounds, hard hunters, tough as nails, excellent control, clean mouth, handle excellent but none have the nose I require this f...

Thanks for the info Sean. I never really knew what became of her after she left my place. I REALLY liked Sonic, but I recall putting maybe a 3rd place on Casey at the trial of champions at Adirondack a few years ago. She was a good one too from what I saw. I never saw Sonic run rough when solo or wi...

Frenchman, I co-owned Sonic with Mr. Potts for a couple of years and had her here at my place during that time. I had seen her run before and was very happy to have the chance to have her. All things considered, she was maybe the best 13" bitch I've seen- not only in trials but running solo as well....

Oceanguy, I bred to Hammer- but not necessarily because of running style.

Gus, no offense taken- merely wanted to clarify that this hound was never a cull and didn't want his sire to get bad publicity for passing along faulty genes. But anytime someone is making a close cross he has a responsibility to the resulting pups to have done his homework and know the risks involv...

Gus, I got a call about Blaze and his "indescretions" with deer. I can assure you that he never ran any off game of any kind while he was here the first 3 years of his life. I can't say if that was the case after he left. I will say that of all the other hounds I've had off his sire, not a single on...

Good to hear from you, Thunder! We hunted a bit in the Musquadoboit valley and had excellent running but up on "The Mountain" it was a different world. Most mornings the frost was so thick it made a half-inch coating on everything til the wind came up in mid-morning and evaporated it away. One of my...

A lot of this shyness too is the result of breeders who keep and breed too many hounds (I've been close to it myself). The hounds are up on wire where they get very little attention or human contact and the pups get the same treatment at the critical age of 5 to 16 weeks. No question genetics plays ...

I've been an AKC judge for 10 or 12 years and I can tell you right now that these judges have an awful lot more on their plates than wondering if a particular hound runs another format. Sounds as though this Scooter dog is successful because he runs a rabbit the right way, not because he runs a part...

Buckhunter, I'm sure glad to hear you like your pup. If I'm thinking of the right one, that was the last litter off Mac. I know AKC will register another litter off him now that he's over 12, but I just don't want to jump through all the ridiculous hoops they line up in the name of "bettering the br...

Oceanguy, Hammer is maybe the most outstanding snow hound I've ever seen. His only weakness (and I'm being picky) is that he wants to push all the time- when a hare is first jumped; if it wants to zigzag, Hammer will have a few checks. He needs to have a little more patience til the hare is lined ou...

Mr. Sester, thanks for the reply. I visited the Midwest site and liked the photo and pedigree. I ran some against Ace in the Hole with my Merlin dog back in the early 90's and we had some good races running against the likes of Proper Baron, Casanova, Sam Jr, Spencer and others. Lots of great little...

Mr. Sester, can you tell me where you would attribute this high level of nose to? I see lots of hounds with good nose but few that have shown the ability that NT's pups have shown. I'm not very familiar with the pedigree on him, but are there particular hounds you can identify in the pedigree that d...
