It is jmo, but I believe that a dog just like a person should think before he opens his mouth and that my fellow hunters is BRAINS. It is possible, just like any other trait to breed nose into your dogs. I personally will not breed more nose than brains. Areas were all of us run dogs vary and you sh...

I agree with Rick that if breeders were all breeding for a rabbit dog it would make a difference, but I personally have had better luck with young dogs running them with an older, slower dog with the hunting style I perfer for a while. Guys I believe hunt is bred into a dog an can't be taught, it is my experience over the past 35 years of raising and running rabbit dogs that makes me believe you get what you breed. I absolutely will not breed a dog that does not hunt, no matter how well they run. It is my experience that a dog wit...

There not all gone, just most registered dogs don't seem to have the hunt that old grade or meat dogs have. I agree with Jonny, I don't like a wild , rough, rangey dog either. I'm just a rabbit hunter, I don't trial, I just love to watch a good pack of dogs, so I perfer grade dogs that I know how th...

Guys this is my fisrt post, I have been reading these forums for a while. I have a opinion on this trashrunning discussion. Here we go, I believe it is possible to breed a bloodline of beagles that prefer one scent to another. Most of us breed with some kind of result in mind, and if you only breed ...
