Use a older 1 1/2 long spring, I found I had better catches than using a rat trap. You can find used ones from time to time, on some trapping forums. I use a Lennon's All Call weasel lure.

I WOULD NOT PLANT RUSSIAN/AUTUMN OLIVE, I'd plant a mix of scotch pine and white pine, leave some 40 +/- foot circles and throw some raspberries bushes in there. Try to stay with native vegetation. Dogwoods are fast growing scrubs.
