Re: New Garmin Astro (Review)
Well I did as suggested (cut and burned), and I'll try them in a trial tomorrow (we can use tracking collars in Canada in all our trials). I saved the end of the good one in case I need to attach it again for use on a coyote hound this winter. Thanks for the advice.

Re: New Garmin Astro (Review)
What worries me about cutting the collar is the Garmin rep told me that If I did, the collar would not be covered under any warantee. You'd think that it would be simple for Garmin to sell collars in maybe two sizes?

Re: New Garmin Astro (Review)
I received my Garmin outfit yesterday and today I ran two beagles in my 100 acre fenced grounds with the collars on. The unit picked up the signal just fine (all day) and took me right to them when I wanted to catch them. I drove down the road 11 kms (maybe 6 miles) and still got the signal on one h...

Re: What you guys know about this dog?
He is a nice, clean running hound who did most of his placing and winning in Quebec Canada where they like a more conservative type hound. Not too big (maybe 14 1/4" to 14 1/2") but he was very consistent in trials. He was trialed and finished by Yves Piedalou of Quebec, and then sold to Gerard Perr...

Quicker Pedigree Info
I think a person would get quicker and more complete pedigree information if they were to title their post something like "Ped. on White's Wheeler" (example) rather than just Ped help or pedigree information. I know that if I recognize the name of the hound, and might be able to contribute something...

Re: ped of brankos kisser
Just a few words about FTCH Brankos' Kisser; My buddy Geoff Montgomery owned her and finished her (he bought her as a young hound from Branko), and I ran with her every week for several years. She was one of the nicest running bitches I've ever ran with. Pretty small for a 15" bitch (maybe 13 1/2 or...

Re: IFC GREENBAY SHOOTER MALE
Gene W, sorry, but I have nothing on the spelling of Desvaoux. I actually have very little on the pedigrees of hounds from Quebec. Anyway, I've bought this hound, and will drive to Kentucky next week to pick him up. I'm looking forward to a winter on snow with this Shooter male, and hopefully he'll ...

Re: Boomerx
No such luck. I was busy running a hound. Just bought a new one from this website. He's out of IFC Greenbay Shooter and I really want to try one from this bloodline. I'll pick it up next week in Kentucky, so I'll have about a 14 hour drive there (one way). I did get my PM and answered it. Terry McBr...

Please give me the sire and dam of Drigg's Jessie. Also, is he a well built hound? I'm interested.

Re: Garmin Astro Combo DC-30
I saw this combo in action at a trial this past weekend. Impressive, to say the least. We got the signal in heavy cedar swamp and although we didn't really test the range, It had no trouble picking up the hound at 3.6 miles. Of course the GPS accuracy and topo maps are what makes this outfit shine. ...

Re: QUESTION ABOUT CATCHING WILD RABBITS?
I like wooden traps rather than wire for the reason that rabbits or hare seem to be calmer when trapped in them. If I use wire traps, I put thin plywood inside on the end, so the rabbit doesn't smash it's tender nose on the wire and bleed. I've seen them bleeding like this when using wire cages, and...

Re: WHAT ARE THE BEST PRODUCING FEMALES OUT THERE.
My vote would go to FTCH Getemout's Singing Cricket (a Canadian hound). She's 10 years old now and still running well, although she's been bred for the very last time (spayed now). She has had 4 litters and pups from the last litter are too young to be trialed yet. First litter She Produced: IFC Mou...

Re: WHAT STUD DOG WOULD YOU BREED TO?
I had the opportunity of breeding to either Heli-Prop or Jack Of All Trades when I finished them both here in Canada. I'd had them at home for maybe 6 months and knew that Prop was a far better hound than Jack. Let me qualify that, Prop was much more spectacular, much quicker and far too much hound ...

I hope you're kidding. There are better ways to get rid of a hound you don't want than that. Terry McBride
