Re: FLAVOR OF THE MONTH
Obviously you should keep dogs that you like, sounds like your pretty fond of these. I had a FC Bucks Branch Kalagha, Trudy (now deceased)and bred her back FC Bucks Branch Englebert, and got Bertie. Both good bitches, but the best bitch that I have ever owned, Trudy's grandmother, was a grand daughte...

Re: FLAVOR OF THE MONTH
Of course there are tough days when the dogs struggle to run a rabbit at field trials, there are also tough days when gun hunting, there's also tough days when pleasure running. The few guys that are always trying to point out negative things about field trials, the same things can be said about gun hun...

Re: FLAVOR OF THE MONTH
Maybe,Maybe not. Just seems like there's a few guys that talk negative about field trials and field champions, but yet they probably own a kennel full of field champion bred hounds, just doesn't make sense, kinda hypocritical. I'm not sayin a dog has to be a field champion to be any good, hell I've seen...

Re: FLAVOR OF THE MONTH
Yeah,I've seen several that were Little Pack Champions.
Anyone else own dogs that don't have any Champions within their 4-5 generation pedigree?

Re: FLAVOR OF THE MONTH
I remember back when I was a kid,we use to have a few dogs that were strictly cottontail bred that didn't have field champions in their pedigree, they were okay rabbit dogs but they were slow an mouthy. I would say 4 or 5 generations back would be far enough Newt, just curious if any of ya'll currentl...

Re: Midwest Judging
It's not fair to lump the entire association into one lump. Some have worked hard for many years to make the association what it is. That's not quite fair to the really great people that work hard week in and week out. Well said.....I've met some very good honest guys in the Midwest, don't let a few...

Re: FLAVOR OF THE MONTH
There are many many hounds that have had great success in field trials an went on to become outstanding producers. Jack of all trades,Ninja,Mountain Man,Shaker,Striker,Ranger Dan,Lumber Jack,Viagra,Shooter, etc etc.. Beaglers would've never had the opportunity to breed to these great studs if they w...

Re: Brains, isn't it time you got yours
Different formats have different rules, and they score the dogs differently,Most people understand that and they know what style dog to take. Little Pack scores 15 second Checks, they allow a bigger check area. Progressive Pack doesn't have any time limit on Checks, they don't allow a big check area,so...

Re: Brains, isn't it time you got yours
I've been to all of them SR Patch, UKC HH & PP, ARHA LP & PP, AKC SPO & LP. I like Little Pack & Midwest,I also enjoyed Large Pack on Hare. When I went to the different formats most guys already know what style dog to take. I do agree with Chuck that judging is more than just an opinion,I've ran Lit...
