Re: Can't unload your gun early nowadays....be safe...not sorry.
Most of these days we all carry phones with video capabilities. Were I accosted I would immediately pull out the phone and start the video recording. Quickly eliminates the he said she said stuff with first hand facts to show local law enforcement. That being said, my other hand would be resting on ...

Re: Staten's Blue Samurai RIP
My condolences to you Jonah. We've never met but we share a mutual friend in Shadygrove and I've run with his Josie dog out of Sam. Sounds as if Sam left his mark on a number of nice hounds. Always hard to see the good ones leave us.

Re: Time to get back to running!!!
My theory is dead rabbits don’t run. :check: :check: Nothing wrong with harvesting some to eat. I don't eat hare anymore and I sure would rather have them to run again. Found where one had been killed and eaten this past weekend in a favorite haunt of mine. Just a bit of bone and pinch of fur left....

Mark, Definitely not my style of dog for sure............and yet........I have so much respect for what you've done in developing a pack of dogs that YOU like and YOU enjoy! Obviously, there are a group of guys you are connected with that enjoy the same. The key to your success in my opinion is that...

May be dealing with a wolf in sheeps clothing here guys. Members of his own "supposed" club ought to be able to answer his questions.

Re: Taxidermist
SRP, I too, have read what the encyclopedias have documented. I don't understand all that I read on the subject. I do trust what I've observed in the wild after having spent over 40 years following hounds and observing the game they chase. I've also learned I never want to see my hounds pick up ther...
Did you find it odd to harvest a "white" hare so early in the season?
That's not that strange. Hare will begin turning white in late October. I'm guessing this hare was not as fulll white as it would be in late Dec. or early January. Also, hare do not all turn white at the same tim...

Re: HELP
It is called Ehrilichiosis and is a tick born disease. I think I have it spelled right! Google it and you'll find all kinds of info. I have a good friend who has a Walker Coon Hound with it. Dog was acting really odd. Trouble running a track and moving it forward seemed confused and unsettled about ...

Re: Little pup help
If you are running in a pen that is frequented by other dogs and people, part of what you are seeing as hunt/search may be the pup running around looking for the other dogs that are or have been in the enclosure. Also the rabbit scent is usually stronger in an enclosure simply because the rabbits ar...

Re: Hot stud dog
I'd find me a real good blue speckled pointy headed hyper acting Australian Shepard , Blue Heeler , Border Colley , Jack Russell with blue glass eyes, long hair, short ears and a squeaky yappy house dog bark. Lots of them are winning most all of the trials these days, just look around they're out t...

Guess the most important thing is that he's helping some young boys create some fond memories that they will have for a life time, enjoying being with them and enjoying some pretty nice young dogs he seems to be very pleased with. Kudos to you Jackson Boys! Nice to see folks that have young men and ...

Re: Refusal to hunt !!!
Genetics! You can't teach or force any hound to hunt. Some dogs will hunt harder over time as they mature and become more game wise. Some call it search, some call it hunt. No matter what you call it it's bred in to them at conception, not trained in by humans. Some refer to it as desire though I th...

Re: Run to catch
I was just thinking back to many years ago coon hunting with you in some of the big corn pieces along the river in the Upper Valley. The hounds would be smoking a big ol' coon up one row and down another as fast as they all could run and then sometimes you'd hear them catch him on the ground and wha...

I can't speak for John Way Dana, but you know me well enough to know that if I was trying to make you feel guilty it would be straight on between you and me, not on some public forum. You also know my circumstances regarding availability of game and spots to hunt as well as having known my conservat...
