Starting Pup
Rob, this is what I am talking about in the other thread. Young guys get out on puplic land for a whole 5 days and cant jump a single rabbit. How many others who dont post do you think get discouraged like this? Whats more important, being able to kill rabbits into breeding season, or leaving some a...

Registration
You should be able to register him in UKC and AHRA as long as he is full beagle. Just attend a local trial for either registry and you can register them for I believe $20, you can even run the same day. A breed inspector will examine the dog, and take 2 pictures to send in. Your papers will come a c...

Let me know what you come up with. I have an 18 month old boy that is facinated with the toilet. He flushes everything from tv remotes to shoes. I also have other young kids so cant lock it. Dont feel too bad, it could be worse. My grandpa said he used to put a little amonia in his toiled to keep hi...

Running Mid-West
It depends greatly on the judges, but generally speaking they are fast and a bit rough. Most dogs will not stay long in check area, and when they get it they fly out of there. From what I have seen, they will allow overrunning the track quite a bit, but dont allow any mouth in check area. Dogs that ...

Line Breeding
Creating "your own" line of dogs does not mean they all have to be related and have common ancestors. Just breeding the best dogs you can find that (trait wise) match up well with your bitches should work well. Dont pass the oportunity to breed to a great dog because he is not related to your dog, o...

ground fence
A friend of mine has two dogs that have tried to dig to china. We dug down 12", and in 24", bent a four foot piece of fence in half at a 90 deg angle. Attatched one half securely to the fence and the other half flat on the bottom. If your ground is overly sandy like his was, try to find some clay to...

breeding forum
I agree, that would be a good forum. You could find out what bloodlines cross well, find out about pups parents before born. It would be hard to sort out the crap, as some will list amazing qualities of there dogs when it couldnt be any farther from the truth in an attempt to sell pups. Will make fo...

running/trial
Brian feel free to call 989-743-4327, I run 3-5 days a week. My dogs are on the slow side of mid-west. They run good line, have good nose, hunt and search very hard. I wont keep a dog that cant consistantly circle a rabbit solo. Because of that I only have one adult (2 1/2) a 10 month old and 7month...

handling dogs
Do you own or know someone that own a e-collar. They work better than anything else. If you get close enough that the dog knows you want it to come, and they dont, shock em! They will come to you, and no I this doesnt seem to take any hunt out. They know why they are being shocked. Good luck!

dog food
I use Diamond Premium Adult (26/18)and am very satisfied. I was feeding Tradition(26/18)and getting loose stool from one bag to the next. When I switched I had to cut back amount of food as dogs were putting on weight quick. I have small beagles and one is very picky, went through 4 different brands...

unpopular opinion
I think its irresponsible to inbreed dogs. I realize this goes against what most major breeders will tell you, but just thought I would offer the opposing position..... Isnt there a good male you know of that has the positive traits you are looking for. Most dogs have at least one weakness, find a d...
