On the farm we use blue cote for all the animals that get cut, including the hounds. Just apply to the cut once a day.

It's tough for a seasoned hound to run on ice. Not much there to hold the scent. Personally I won't run a pup in bad conditions, perfect time for them to get bored and pick up some bad habits or even strong scent, if you know what I mean. I usually wait until they can run hard in favorable condition...
