Re: rabbit to fox.
In my experience, the greys don't run quite as much as the reds. You can expect a couple mile circle from an adult red (or grey at times). They do circle it seems, but be prepared for long jaunts by the dogs.

Re: devastated again
Sorry for your loss Preacher. I just lost a young dog I expected alot from. I hate the thought of losing my good dogs. We give a big part of ourselves to our dogs... Feeling your pain here.

Re: Running in the WV snow?
I hunt if the wind isn't howling. I am in Pa just north of Cumberland, Md ( and Ridgely, WV). The gusting wind messes with my ability to hear the dog's bell and his ability to hear me... not to mention his nose doesn't seem to work quite as well. Otherwise, the running is good. Seems like, when we f...

Re: cold here how bout you?
Here in Pa it's been cold and the wind hasn't stopped blowing since New Year's Day. I run in the cold, but not in howling wind. I feel cooped up already. I get 2-4 foot drifts daily at the garage door. This kinda winter stinks.

Re: Locked section proposal (please read)
One bad thing about this is that guys that don't post a lot(like myself) couldn't view. I love the pics (especially with mobeagles yotes). I read daily, and has now overtaken the Steelernation as my favorite MB. It may force people to post whether they have anthing to say or not.

Spicer's Blue Back. Must have been a busy stud, as there is a lot of his blood in the thickets around here.

If you don't have nemex, I think The Evil Empire (Walmart) sells Hartz cat wormer for like $5. It's a pain in the rig running to Walmart, but it works.... and it's cheap.

Re: Iowa Rabbit Hunting
Wow. I don't think I'd quit running the hounds through archery season. I have had my hunt disrupted while I was bowhunting before by beaglers. I was annoyed, but not infuriated. I run on public ground here in Pennsylvania some and haven't had any run ins yet. Like you, I wouldn't intentionally screw...

Re: Shot a nice buck, anything I can do to break dogs
Hey USMC. I can relate to being on a tight budget, and would love to have an E Collar some time in the future...but can't swing it anytime soon. I noticed on Ebay they had remote controlled shock collars for a song and a dance ($35 shipped with an actual 30 money back guarentee). Granted, they aren'...

Re: pet beagles
We keep our pup in the house and the extra training from our kids help. ie: Sit, stay, fetch, let go... He's 8 months old now and an excellent hunter. He loves to please us and LOVES to hunt. He even fetches the rabbit and knows commands like come, stay, wait, let go and fetch. We can point to the b...
