Re: Everybody's looking for something different.............
Dana, Tell the guy in KY that I'll take that female off his hands if she is as he described before he roughs her up by exposing her too much to the style dogs he likes. It makes me shake my head when I hear stories like that. It partly explains to me why I constantly see so many over competitive, ro...

Re: Most important in your kennel???
There should be one more important category and that is Nose. If they can't smell it, they can't run it. I may be wrong since I don't live in the south, but I believe the importance of this trait is relative to where you live and hunt. Guys from the northern U.S. and Canada where running on snow is ...

R.I.P. Art Beamer
Heard Art passed away on Dec. 30th at 85 years old after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. Art was a beagling legend in the northeast. He owned numerous FC's and IFC's most notably Awful Bawlin Viagra, Maple Lane Itchy Bawls and others throughout the years. I didn't know him real well personally, bu...

Re: Kennel cough
Tylan is Tylosin and LA-200 is Liquamycin, they are different, but both are antibiotics. It can't hurt to try something. Good luck.

Re: Who's going on a hare hunt this year?
Leaving Oct. 18th for 6 days in Maine. It's either our 14th or 15th year in a row. Always a good time with friends and some decent hounds. Hope the weather cooperates and gives us some nice running conditions. Good luck and be safe to everyone going on a hunt.

Re: Kennel cough
Do some research on Tylan 50. A friends dog had kennel cough this past summer and in 3 days of using this the dog was much better with no more cough. I believe he used 2cc injectable dose once per day for the first 2 days then 1cc on the third day. Do not use more than 3 days in a row. Do not hold m...

Re: WHO's GOT THE BEST LINE CONTROL (stud dog please)
I also agree with Pine Lakes, but it seems what you described is dogs that are smart enough to run the speed the scenting conditions dictate. If they do that regardless of pack pressure, then that is the type hound I am looking to breed to. Some of mine look decent solo or brace and will adjust spee...

Re: WHO's GOT THE BEST LINE CONTROL (stud dog please)
I agree with mybeagles. One of the reasons I quit trialing was because of the direction AKC LP trials were heading. Speed became the name of the game at a big cost to line control. Don't get me wrong, I like a dog with plenty of foot, but they have to be able to hold the line pretty consistently and...

Re: Branko Jack or Ali Baba?
Not having seen either personally, I can only give an opinion on what I have seen with them close, relatively close or on both sides of the pedigrees. And I know the bitch sides of these hounds could be a big contributing factor in the style of these hounds, although from what I have seen the styles...

Re: Coccidia , one time dose.
If you go to the link he has on his post, there is a pretty good write up on the product. I believe it said .2ml per lb which would be 2ml per every 10lbs or 5ml for a 25lb beagle. That is what they used in one of their studies and they claim it was effective and safe. I would suggest you read it yo...

Re: Brents Prime Time Males ?
Speaking of the Sock it to Me stuff. Years back I owned 2 males out of Moneysunk Ratchet (Socket's littermate sister) and Otterbrook Sam Jr. Both were very nice, one especially had the best nose I have owned and tons of foot and no quit. He could outright smoke a hare and hookup for long stretches w...

Re: who are the top 5 studs in the north
North as in Northeast and especially eastern Canada two are Cryon Whitefoot and Forest Pond Slick. Don't know a ton personally about these individual dogs, but have heard from some reliable sources that they both have been producing what your talking about.

Re: Poor mans sport just got poorer
I stand corrected then. I looked it up and found that there have been a couple of whitetails that had estimated live weights of just over 500lbs., very few. That's incredible! If you kill one half that weight near me it is considered a monster. They kill a few further north 300lbs every now and then...
