Re: Best Reproducing dog you've seen??

My old male FTCH Fillmore's Norther Sly produced over 15 FTCH's, I think he had 15 out of the first 13 breedings. He had the same old blood in him as Jack, etc. in him, he produced well like they did. Of course he was bred to decent females also and some of his offspring are still producing today. I...

Re: Where does shyness come from?

i know what you mean. I think the crutial socialization time between 6-12 weeks pups should be handled alot etc. Should not be taken from the Dan earlier than 6-7 weeks also. They learn alot when with thier littermates too. raised as close to people as possible would have to help, but not all of them.

Re: Riley’s Rolling Trails

My buddies 10 month old female has more of a high pitch scream to her I believe, I'll have to keep watch next time out. We usually have a few females and I don't yet know his hounds voices between all of them. He at first though his older female was the one screaming off on some drives to later tell...

Re: Pup barking after dogs

If you have to take all the dogs out at one time, just try to get the pups on their own rabbits as much as possible. The old hounds will come and take the run away from them I'm sure, but the old ones should stay with the one they are chasing themselves if they are decent hounds. I'm sure you could ...

A while ago Weedeater Sly was owned by Ogle Jenkins from Pedro Ohio, Bondsbeagle knows him or ran with him and had his ph #. I lost it when this computer was washed out. There is another guy looking for his # also if anyone will post it.

Re: Pup barking after dogs

Personally I don't run pups with seasoned hounds. It makes them do this stuff, which it may never stop doing. Seen it done alot, don't like it. Let a pup chase it's own rabbit or with pups of it's equal until it has the ability to help the pack out alot. Wonder why some hounds turn out great at 2 ye...

Re: Your favorite all time hound??

Wow Bev! That old jack hound of yours looks exactly like Clem with just a little more white in the face due to age.
My favorite was my old fella FTCH Fillmore's Northern Sly, he ran the same way they describe Shooter, turned with the line all the time and brought the check out to a run.

Re: searching for littermates!!!

I heard weedeater Sly was a great nosed hound. He is out of my old FTCH Fillmore's Northern Sly. I wanted to get a pup out of weedeater Sly sometime if possible. The fella that owns weedeater sly has alot of Jigs bred females to breed to also. He said Weedeater Sly had a super nose like his sire. Yo...

Re: Riley’s Rolling Trails

I picked up a 7 month old Pacesetter bred female for my buddy up her. She was lightly started on cottontails then. She is 10 months old now and has been running hare about 8- 10 times in the last month or so. She is doing really well, she is close on a check and will tear off out of a check and leave...

Re: Who has one ?

Jumpdogs Died off ? or too old ? Man there's ton's of good jump dogs up this way and I bet in your neck of the woods too. It's always helped to take a pup into the thickest worst stuff you can when young and training it to start. This way once it starts it has no fear of thichets/briars etc. No two ...

Re: Picking the best from the litter

Yes Swampbuck I had one like that too, I liked him alot. I gave the brother to him to my hunting pal because I knew he would keep him forever and I took the skiddish one to see what I could make of him. If I had the choice I would take the bold pup, you would have less problems with it and I like fr...

There's more info on page 9, under selecting a pup too. Get rid of submissive ones and keep dominant/agressive ones.

Re: what is the fastest hound you ever seen

Now, Now Elmer Fudd. Don't you remember Fillmore's Pepper Sly Hunter ( Jenny ). She would run 100+ yards ahead of a pack of hounds and she was 14". She was out of FTCH Fillmore's norther Sly (Armando's Norther Tracker x Branko's Bell Spec's ) and Branko's Red Hot Pepper (Heli Prop x Branko's ??? can...

Re: starting pups

8 weeks, and circling hare by 11 weeks has been the personal best, but usually can circle one by 16-20 weeks. Doing it in the winter conditions has added more time to that as the deep snow, cold temps, no day light after work and fear of losing them in the cold is hard. Had them start at 20 weeks ol...
