I waited awhile to take mine to the vet also. I kept thinking he just had scratched his eye and it would clear up but it didn't. The vet said that sometimes they get an irritation or infection in the 3rd eye. I would take her to the vet and he will be able to tell you then and there if she is blind.

Take her to the vet. I had a male that got junk in his eye when running and he kept scratching and rubbing at it until he got the 3rd eye lid infected. The whole side of his head swelled up and his eye looked milky just as you described. Took him to the vet and got a shot in the eye and some ointmen...

First of all I never got my hackles up I just tend to disagree with Mr. West. In Mr. West's diffinition any thing that interfers with the run is a "FAULT" then any dog that makes a loss (check) has commited an error that interfers with the forward progress of the run and thus a "FAULTY" hound. The r...

First of all let me say that I have dogs of all registeries. In my humble opinion ALL of them are grade and there is NO surefire way to assure that their lineage is as cited on the so called "registration papers". In order for a dog to be purely of the lineage cited on the papers a person had to be ...

Mr. West, Please enlighten us on the scientific basis of your assertion that these hound actions are in fact all "FAULTY". I would be very interested in reading a synopsis of the documentation you use to objectively compare these hound actions and classify them all as "FAULTS". If you are not using ...

Without a rule book what is used to determine a "FAULT"? An opinion of one may not be the opinion of another. I'm a rabbit hunter and my rule book is the gun. I don't care if the dog swings, reaches, skips or rolls on it's back if it brings the rabbit to my gun consistantly then that suits me fine. I...

Randy, I was just talking to my boss last Thursday who is a licensed Veterinarian in Southern Indiana. We work for the USDA as Meat and Poultry inspectors and he also works in a clinic on the weekends. He said that the heartworm treatment is nothing like it used to be several years ago. I know my mo...

Ted, I know for a fact that rabbits like to be chased. I've been around about 50 years and hunted nearly all of them and every year around March or April this same ole pesky wabbit comes around. Now this is a pretty large wabbit for a cottontail and my dogs can't run fast enough to keep up with that...

Tri-tronics Turn on plug
I put my tri-tronics 200 lite training collar today on my cousins dog that has a little problem with deer. We didn't get the opportunity to utilize the new trainer but when we got back to the truck after hunting about 3 hours and took the collar off the turn on plug was gone. Has anyone else experie...

Yeap, I would say it is Epilepsy. I had a female bluetick coon dog that had these fits. It blew me away the first time I saw her have one. She was treeing real hard and when I got into the tree she just rolled over on her back, foamed at the mouth and her eyes rolled back into her head like she was ...

Well stated Jackrabbit. I never once saw anything in your posts about a person having to KILL every rabbit they ran. I hunt numerous species rabbits, squirrel and deer and almost NEVER take the limit of anyone of them. I have deer hunted for the past 4 years and not taken a deer as I am pretty selec...
