Re: How many?

I am down to my last beagle and she is 12 or 13 years old now. Time got away from me when I had both males and females and I never got her bred so the line I kept has been lost. It got to the point around here that places to hunt, run rabbits were few and far in between and what was available held f...

Re: Run to catch

It sounds like this issue of rabbitat is probably about the same in most states. My state puts plenty of money into the der, turkey and even quail in places but nothing in the way of anything for rabbit numbers or rabbit hunting at all. We used to have quite a few pheasants back in my younger years ...

Re: Dog found 3 dead rabbits in 18” of snow today

I think I read somewhere that one was found in New York with the hemorrhagic disease. Did any of them have bloody noses or mouths? I think I would contact the state DNR as that seems rather weird to be several in that small area. It may not have anything to do with the hemorrhagic disease but maybe ...

Re: Minimum size of a fenced pen for adult dog and cost?

I don't think the old apron fence can be found much anymore. I know when I was looking for it years ago the price went up so much from when I first priced it and when I was ready to build the fence I forgot about it.

Re: Run to catch

I really like reading about these guys and those pups turning it on. I am also envious of those of you who still have places and rabbits to run. I'm afraid my days are about coming to an end after 60+ years of following hounds. It first started with coon hounds to where the places to go and NOT have...

Re: Buyer beware

Many of us from earlier generations have lived by the oath that a man is only as good as his word and that his word is his bond. You can tell a lot about a person from their words without every knowing them. Here is one that fits exactly what I believe is the problem in America today and I call it t...

Re: Run to catch

Well,a sign of the times - at least around here it seems. Went to run yesterday morning and had brought just my Queen dog for a little solo time. There's been a place that is in the town limits, behind an industrial park of about 15-20 acres.I was introduced to it 8 years ago by one of the cops in t...

Re: Just Gun Hunters-Unknown dogs

There is one other BIG twist into this and that is the fact that there just isn't as many places for "hunters" to run dogs. Those that are available are run to death and if there are not beaglers or clubs maintaining habitat or at least making sure rabbits are there one can "HUNT" nearly all day and...

Re: Any One still Old School with collars

I remember the first tracker I got way back when I had coon hounds. I had one that was a one way dog and when I cut him loose I lifted his tail and kissed his back side good bye. Many a nights I cam home without him only to get a call in a day or two that he was at someone's house. He went until he ...

Re: Where is everyone

I am on this site everyday and have been for about 18 years. There still are some guys that have been on here as long or longer that have the experience and knowledge to tell it like it is rather than the scoop of the day that one gets on FB kind of posts. I love the posts from who I call E.F. Hutto...

Re: Who is Wayne D.Gross ?

I do NOT read or see a single person downing anyone but rather the fact that something is given and then charged for. From my perspective the root issue I read in the post has nothing to do with the individual doing it but what the individual is doing. I understand that ink, paper as well as time ar...
