I would be concerned about cow tags on an inside dog.

I have three inside and we run in tick infested areas often.

We use Front line plus monthly. You can save buying it for larger dogs and using .67cc for a 20 lb. hound.

We also got them Lyme vaccines.

I bought this hound and really like her. She was exactly as described (both in the field and house) and after a few days of solo, she popped out of her shell and really started pouring it on.
