Well put Arlie, pretty much says it all.
A fast dog with no control is a rough dog.
A controlled dog with no speed is a slow dog.
A fast dog with control is a winning dog.

Re: FLAVOR OF THE MONTH

SR Patch, I'm not in my feelings, and I'm definitely not picking a fight with you,but when you get on here an say some of the things that you've said then you should expect people to respond. I'm incapable of critiquing the "game" of soccer due to the fact that I have no experience playing the game. ...

Re: FLAVOR OF THE MONTH

I didn't say the trial only runs for 3-4 hours a day,I said the Winners Pack runs for 3-4 hours. An AKC trial usually starts at 8am an normally isn't over til close to dark, they run a first series, then a second series, sometimes even a third series, then they run the Winners Pack, but you wouldn't know...

Re: FLAVOR OF THE MONTH

the trials are a fun game but, the total hound is never tested for or allowed time for evaluation, the time constraints and rules are not set for what a rabbit hunter requires. You obviously haven't ever been to an AKC trial, because there are no time constraints, the judges can run them as long as t...

Re: FLAVOR OF THE MONTH

Here we go again, arguing with a guy that has Never been to a Field Trial. The judges write down what they see,if they don't see it then they obviously cant write it down,if they see a dog pick up a Check they write it down,if they have a marked line they write down what they see,if they see a dog ju...

Re: FLAVOR OF THE MONTH

Judges are not hired to give their OPINIONS but to judge what runs best accorrding to a set of rules on a givrn day its not an OPINION but a fact as to what the hound is doing they are hired to judge in a objective and honest manner according to these rules if they have to give their OPINONS they a...

Re: FLAVOR OF THE MONTH

ShadyGrove, I think we do share some of the same thoughts on breeding.Glad to hear your cross worked out, even though you never seen FlyMan run you still took a chance on him because of his strong pedigree, and it sounds like it worked out for you. Good luck. As far as the flavor of the month goes,Non...

Re: FLAVOR OF THE MONTH

Honestly I seriously doubt anyone would use a Derby winner for either one,Those horses are worth a pretty penny, most stud fees could range from $100,000 - $1,000,000. Once their race career is over they will be used for stud, But it's not that they couldn't be used for those things, they are some pre...

Re: FLAVOR OF THE MONTH

Out of the last 45 horses that have won the Kentucky Derby 43 of those horses have shared at least one common ancestor in 4-5 generations,MOST of them share two or three common ancestors in a 4-5 generation pedigree.Case in point, those Ky Derby winners may not be directly out of a Champion horse,but...

Re: FLAVOR OF THE MONTH

There are many many hounds that have had great success in field trials an went on to become outstanding producers. Jack of all trades,Ninja,Mountain Man,Shaker,Striker,Ranger Dan,Lumber Jack,Viagra,Shooter, etc etc.. Beaglers would've never had the opportunity to breed to these great studs if they we...

Re: FLAVOR OF THE MONTH

EVERY STUD DOG IS NOT A RABBIT DOG AND EVERY RABBIT DOG IS NOT A STUD DOG. YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT OFFSPRING . I agree, That's why I believe pedigree an genetics are important to a breeding program, some lines have continued to keep producing very well over the years through their offspring an their off...

Re: FLAVOR OF THE MONTH

Referring to a stud as the "flavor of the month" kinda sounds like a negative comment. But,a stud that currently seems to be getting some attention is Arkmo's Boomer, and rightfully so,Boomer had 9 wins in the MidWest Big Male Class,he's directly out of Awful Bawlin Viagra,I plan on using him sometim...

Re: Brains, isn't it time you got yours

I can agree to disagree too,but my final thought is - Nothing Compares to Experience. You have compared UKC Night Hunts,Watching Videos,Presidential Candidates & Instant Replay to Field Trials,if you honestly believe you can form an accurate opinion without ever actually being at a field trial then ...
