Pup is barking for no reason on checks

I have a 6mo old female that I started working with about a month ago. I would just take her out with me and my other two dogs and if she ran with them great, if not that was fine too. Well after a few trips she turned into a little hunting machine and packed up great. I was sure it was only metooin...

Re: Dog suddenly goes blind

Just an update - He took the dog to the vet and they are performing blood work. Said was some kind of disorder, he couldn't remember the name. Good news is they said the dog may come out of it, bad news, no way to tell if he'll be able to run again. Hopefully he comes out of it and it's something si...

Dog suddenly goes blind

We took 3 dogs out Saturday and the running was just insane, best all year. Basically full sprint for the dogs for 2-3 hours on the same rabbit. If there was a check, it was followed by one of the dogs doing everything they could just to catch back up. Anyway, we see the rabbit come by and notice on...

Re: Dogs ran one stiff

I've never seen a rabbit go stiff, that would surely be neat to see happen! I'm jealous your dogs bring the rabbits to you. My female will, but I'm pretty sure my male will just proceed to eat the rabbit. Never seen a dog want the rabbit as bad as him. We always show the rabbits to the dogs after we...

Re: Had incredible running/hunting Saturday

Went Thursday and Saturday and the running both days was great. On Thursday with about 45 minutes of light left we decided to get one more chase going. 1.5 hours later at the first check near us we called the dogs off it and got out of there. It was a really great weekend for running. Killed 3 Satur...

Re: I hate snow.

I actually love running in the snow. Seems the more I run them in the snow, the better they get on and off the snow. As a matter of fact as soon as I see snow outside I go out of my way to make time to go. :). My male has really struggled getting back up to par from last year though. Dog jumped a ra...

What shoulder holster for TC Contender?

Just picked up a 12" .410 Contender G2 and want to get a good holster for it. I want something that is going to be as comfortable as possible as we all know how those long 8 hour days can ware you down! Don't want to have to continually adjust/fix it. The uncle mikes looks good, but think the lack o...

Invisible fence torture for my dog

My one dog I give free roam of the back yard with an invisible fence. Figured I'd share this picture as this is what my dog has to deal with for hours every single day. It's so bad the rabbits will come into the yard and he will try and sneak up on them, just for them to run across the line and stop...

Re: Keeping only one beagle in a kennel

I picked up the Petsafe Invisible fence and was easy to install, but I also didn't have to run the wire. Just unplugged the invisible fence brand and pluged in the Petsafe. Looking at the two units, you'd think they were made by the same people. I set the correction level to 2, to get him started on...

Re: Keeping only one beagle in a kennel

Interesting.. I have the invisible fence brand, which was a big mistake. I never had them come out and just stuck one of our shih tzu's collars on him. Probably doesn't shock him enough. I called about getting his own collar and they wanted $500. I just couldn't do it out of principal. If you've had...

Re: Keeping only one beagle in a kennel

We have the invisible fence, but since we back up to woods he'll break it to chase anything on 4 legs. I had him free in the backyard for 4 months and no issues. Caught him playing with deer in the yard several times(he thought they were playing) and when they left he'd just go about his day. Then a...

Re: Keeping only one beagle in a kennel

I'm in the same boat with being in a neighborhood. I can only pull off the kennel I have because the house backs up to woods and nobody can see it. I kept him inside at first, but he just sheds too much and my wife and daughter have asthma and are alergic to the dander. Maybe I'll see about expandin...

Keeping only one beagle in a kennel

I'm new to beagling and only have one dog, which is a 7 month old male. Is it a problem to only have the one dog? I feel bad with him being by himself all the time. I go out 2-3 times a day to let him out and run around the yard. However, he whines and howls a lot. (He's figured out the bark collar,...
