I enjoyed that too! Better Beagling Magazine is always looking for stories and people to write. My guess is they would print that and give you a little something for your efforts.
Well done.

Re: The "Can't be bought hounds"
I can part with a dog that doesn't suit me. Money has never meant much to me and has never been able to separate me from a dog that I was happy with. I suppose if there was an extenuating circumstance or emergency where the welfare of my family was at stake I would do it. Otherwise this is the last ...

Re: Dog Voices
The best dog I ever owned had the worst voice of any dog I ever owned. It didn't take long for it to become the sweetest I ever heard! How I wish I could have her again!

Re: What would u do
For me, a gun I don't feel I can use has no value to me. I don't get any enjoyment out of just looking at them.

Re: Litter of 8 died????
Keeping dogs in areas where chickens or other birds are kept or on grounds where they have been kept is strongly discouraged. Birds are carriers of coccidiosis and dogs can pick it up. Puppies are especially susceptible and will die quickly from dehydration due to bloody diahrea. Adult dogs immune s...

Beagle Hunsman,
I'll join the choir in saying a big thanks for taking the time to compose a well thought out post. It suggests you are a man who is a true houndsman that is intentional and contemplative in assessing what makes up a complete rabbit/hare hound.

Re: Trash proof. hounds
So .........if what a dog eats helps determine what it chases does that mean the guys who feed raw have trouble with their dogs chasing chickens and cows? At times I can almost imagine how dogs must laugh at the species human for the things that we fancy are true about what a dog understands! I lear...

Re: Conformation in Mid-West hounds
My Beagles, First off let me say thanks for keeping your comments civil and objective. The name calling stuff really doesn't do anyone any good. Out of the pics. you posted I prefer dogs built like the one shown in your 3rd picture. I live in country where it is not uncommon to be hunting in 14 plus...

Re: satsuma beagles
I believe Mel has a summer place in Maine and spends most of the summer months here in New England. He competes in most of the LPH trials here and his dogs compete with the best of the Northern Hare dogs on the licsensed trial circuit. His dogs often place and have won a some trials over the years. ...

[/quote] Dog B....IMO I'll relate it to golf irons.... Dog A - Blades Dog B - Oversized Cavity Backs Blades are great if you play all the time and once you learn to hit them you can really dial them in. However, when your swing is off they can be REAL unforgiving and embarrassing to the point of wan...

Re: Which do you prefer ?
For years I would have said dog A. I've come too have a greater appreciation for dog B and would choose that style given the choice as long as It is doing its own work and not being adversely effected by what dog A is doing.
