Re: long time beagler Gene Benischek passes away

So sorry to hear....Gene was a great guy, as referenced in the above posts - which were spot on. First time I met him he and a partner, who's name I can't recall, were sleeping on the picnic tables inside the N.E.W. Clubhouse when my dad and I arrived for a trial at about 5:00 a.m. back in the mid 8...

Re: Litter of 8 died????

Not one to argue by any mean just wanted to mention this....... I had a bitch many years ago that I obtained from someone for breeding. She had a litter of six I believe and at about 3 days old they became ill and started dropping like flies. The bitch developed horrible diarrhea as did the pups, ye...

Re: Most dominating competition lemon hound you ever seen ru

Marshmellow's Sandy ran LPH in Michigan in the late 80's. She was lightning fast and pretty as a picture. Ran the ragged edge, but when she beat you, you knew it. She was a pretty lemon and white 15" Bitch, built light and athletic. I believe she died in a connibear trap set on the ground with a bel...

Re: Litter of 8 died????

Not knowing what part of the country your in, or how you kept your pups leaves some questions. Was the bitch showing signs of illness, if it was mastitis, you'd know it. If she wasn't ill at all, that wasn't it. Bitches rarely have "bad" milk. Did the pups show illness, diarrhea, death wine, or did ...

Re: Adding foot with line control

Cross in some blue ninja stuff, as close up as you can find and u should get just what your looking for. Probably add a little more intense hunt than what u have now.

Re: Another type of packing ????

Lots of good advice. I think instead of going over to your buddy's for a stay though, you should bring a couple of his dogs to your place for a couple weeks or more. Just swap him for a couple of your dogs if u don't have space. Then try running her w/ just one of your buddies dogs w/ your pack, and...

Re: BIG NOSE KENNELS!!!!!!!!!!!

Fc Holdworth's Magnum Force had the biggest nose I've seen on a beagle. OLE Buckeye Ninja Blue Boy had a lot of nose too, as did Shooter.

Re: Breeding to Brood bitch or Stud???

All things being equal I would breed to the proven field performer, add to that, one with a proven field title, FC, FTC, IFC, Etc. However, I would not eliminate a dog as a potential Stud of Dam simply due to it's lack of being exposed to the field. Nor would I eliminate a stud or dam for lack of a ...

Re: Switching Pup Question

I've done it with no issue what so ever. The vicks isn't a bad idea, but I don't think your fooling anyone. Bitch's know their new born pups intimately, from their heart rate, breathing, the unique vocal noises each make, movement, etc. Just like wolves, I think it's natural for most of them to nurt...

Re: Rabbit Urine or Scent to catch rabbits

Pure anise extract works good, put a cap full in a plastic bag with some cut up apples. Works great. Your wife probably has some in the cupboard, but you can buy it at the grocery store in the spice isle.

Great Pedigree Building Site

FYI, The Pedigree Database, Pedigreedatabase.com is the best program I have ever come across for building pedigrees. All breeds are on there. I have been using it for about a year now and it is awesome. Really easy to navigate, you can do all sort of neat stuff, post photo's of your dog with his ped...

Re: My dog is dying and I can't figure out why... Update

That should have been an easy diagnosis for a vet - even without an x-ray. You'll probably have a big vet bill and a dead dog. Time for a new Vet.
