Re: Soloing a dog

The only thing I would ask is, how long have you been involved with these hounds? Still haven't got what you're after yet? Maybe that right there should be some pause for thought eh? My female will be 2 in June. I have a pup I'm starting. I suffered a devastating blow by losing my best dog running ...

Mybeagles wrote, It's not that you can't see anything in a pack, it's more about the fact you see everything when solo. Re: Soloing a dog

Deerhost, what can I say....you like soloing....all the power to you. Knock yourself out. I couldn't care less what you do, that's your business and if thats the way you like it, good for you. As for what you believe, i don't know what to say to that....if you cant have any more than one dog in ther...

Re: Soloing a dog

Dave, c'mon man.....you just gave a perfect example of how a pack setting exposes a fault. Appearing to contribute and actually contributing are two different things....it's up to us to be able to recognize the difference right? Run the same pack all the time....it won't take long to figure out who ...

Mybeagles wrote, For those that refuse to solo for whatever reason, what happens to the hounds that don't excel as a young hound with constant pack pressure? Filial degeneration - the tendency of an individual descendant of a bloodline to revert back to the average of that bloodline. In other words if you breed two slower dogs that are both descended from fast dogs the resulting offspring are likely to turn out to be the average of the bloodline which wo...
