I have had two male beagles killed - both about 14". My guess is that the size of the beagle doesn't matter much. I think if the beagle's response to the attack is to retreat and get out of there they are more likely to survive. If their response is to turn and fight then they are dead.

great video - good teamwork w/ the camera guy. That's the best angle for sure - having the camera sitting over the right hand shoulder (for a right handed shooter). Congrats on a nice bird!

I have a littermate to this pup that is doing very well... we killed a lot of rabbits in front of him this past gun season. If you're looking for a smaller male and a project for this spring then you can't go wrong for $100! This dog just needs some time in the briars.

That's a heck of a non-typ gobbler! I've shot one w/ 5 beards that looked just about like that a few years back... also have shot a couple w/ 2 beards. Its pretty rare to shoot a bird w/ more than one beard!

I was able to get great video footage of an awesome hunt in middle TN! The field was full of birds to include 9 Toms. I had 3 Toms hang-up just out of range and after about a 10 min. stand-off they finally commit and came in nicely!
