Just curious, what did you find out was causing this?

Check and see if it's upper eye lids are rolled under. I had a pup once that it's upper eye lids were rolled under and the eye lashes were rubbing the eyes. My vet surgically removed the extra flesh on the eye lids and it made the eye lids function properly and never had a problem after that. Swamp

I use self feeders from weaning age on. They go and nibble on food as they need it. I don't have a overweight dog in the kennel either. I was told a long time ago that if the food is always there they won't gorge themselves, and I have found this to be true.

I agree with busch, here in WI. we have the same problem with snow. My pups don't have them on the back legs but do on the front, I take them to the vet at 3 to 5 days old and she remove's them for $15.00 per litter.

I had this problem years ago with some of my Bredemeier bred hounds. I believe it is genetic, due to too close of line breeding. I've been careful not to line breed too close and not breed any hounds with genetic problems, and have eliminated this problem from my kennel. I would dock their tails if ...
