Re: I hate to do this........
When I lived in New Hampshire and had coonhounds there was an older fellow lived across the river in Vermont that also kept coonhounds. His wife had passed on and he'd been a widower for quite awhile. He and I had hunted together a couple of times and he was quite the character. If he had been from the...

Re: satsuma studs
Mel Faust in Amite,La. owns the Satsuma kennels and has some outstanding dogs.I spent a weekend at his place a couple of years ago and had a ball.Mel has 200 acres of fenced running grounds loaded with swamp rabbits. His Woody dog has done well as a reproducing stud. I know one thing for absolute cer...

Re: How many to a kennel
I've been keeping hounds for approximately 45 years and I never keep more than 1 in a kennel no matter what the size.I have double or triple bunked them together on hunting trips or staying over at someone else's kennel but on a regular basis they each have their own .Less hassels / problems and I c...

Re: Good Judges you have seen..
This past Feb.I watched Brad and Brian Johnson from Michigan judge a class of 15"females and the next day watched Earl Rice and Bruce New judge the 15" males. They were judging from horseback and I was impressed with the four of them .Not only for the looks they gave the hounds but also for their con...

Re: Watch out for this predator
I talked with the sheriff's investigator yesterday. He told me he has a real good idea of who broke into my house but now he just has to prove it.I told him that he could just tell me as my burden of proof doesn't have to be nearly as strong as his!He told me he's gotten info. from a reliable source ...

Watch out for this predator
There's a predator on the loose that you might not recognize. He might just be passing through your area or he might live close by and you don't even know it.Some want to blame the economy and tough times for the increase in his predation but to me there is NO EXCUSE!If you are a hunter, shooter or ju...

Re: Coyotes got another
A month ago I was running in east Tn. Monroe County on a state management area.I had never run there before but it looked really good coverwise.I had three females out aged one,two and three years old. We'd hunted about 10 minutes when they jumped one and put a good circle on it in the overgrown fiel...

Re: Which is harder to win in, ARHA, UKC, or AKC.
When I lived in New Hampshire I attended A.K.C.Large Pack on Hare trials and I can tell you that when they turn out as many as 40 or more dogs together and then spend the next 7-8 hours letting them run and whittling them down to the winners pack you better be sure you've got a "for real" dog with y...

Re: Northern Tracker Studs
Seven years ago I bred a double Ninja bred bitch to FTCH.Filmore's Northern Sly [Tracker son ] and got 4 males that all made very good gundogs and were the earliest starting pups I've ever raised.Jumped their own rabbit in the wild [first time out of the kennel ] and put a small circle on it at 14 w...

Re: WHO'S THE TOP STUD DOG??????
Just read in Reggie's stud ad in the July Rabbit Hunter that his daughter won this years A.R.H.A. World Hunt. What is this female's name and what is the bottom side of her pedigree? A World Hunt winner sireing a World Hunt winner, not too shabby. Guess we all know that Reggie's mother is double Blue N...

This isn't an outcross. If I'm not mistaken she would be Ali-Baba linebreeding as I believe Huckleberry is from Ali-Baba.

Re: Blue Ninja Studs?
Danny Really like the looks and breeding on your Bandit dog. Also have heard many good things about his abilities from dog men who's opinions I respect.I've been keeping dogs with Ninja in their breeding ever since I got a pup from Ninja x Greenbriar Charity in 1993. I have a real nice two year old o...

Re: Mathew Dillan Macrea
I ran with Flash when Frank Clay owned him and when the Hills had him.A very nice, smooth running hound that could keep a rabbit going.A little slower and more conservative then what I keep but a good hound none the less.
Flash has been dead for quite awhile now.
