I won't give an opinion on this because I don't know your dogs. I just wanted to say that I have a friend running a female from a mother-son cross and she is awsome. She is near FC lacking only points to finish. And she could do it anywhere.

Female! No question. A good stud isn't hard to find and all you have to do is pay the fee. Nobody sells a good bitch and you can't rent her. As far as hunt goes, a good bitch will hunt as hard if not harder than any male. jmo

I agree. Only a proven dog should be bred. As far as physical maturity, my vet advises 18months old minimum.

Opens tomorrow here in NY... I'll get out on saturday and shoot a couple. I have a ten month old male that i can't wait to shoot one for, the others are veterans. We'll go north for hare in the winter.

CONGRATS!!! My girls hunt with me and we love every minute of it. The dogs get a little extra lovin when they go to.

I agree six to eight weeks is good. I start taking mom away a little at a time around five weeks.

I've been feeding it myself for a few months. The hounds and I are very satisfied with it.
