Female and pup sick

Post by Twin Bridge Kennels »

I have a 11yr old female and a 10 week old pup that are very sick all they will do is drink until they throw up and they won't eat. I have wormed them and I have been giving them gatorade they have no stool I thought it may be some kind of blockage so I give them some minera l oil about 2ml to the pup and 4 to the mother tonight I will see what happens the other two puppies that were in the kennel with them are fine. Does anybody have any ideas. I am going to give them some more mineral oil in the morning how much can you give them. thanks

Have they had their parvo shots? I have had a couple catch parvo and they wouldn't eat and would just drink water and then vomit it back up but the pups had a bloody stool.

sounds like third stage of parvo,,i have read the human drug--tamiflu. will work.order it here, get the childrens suspension.may take to long and be to late,if you end up going to vet ask for it.also problem is ya need to buy at least 10.may not be a bad idea if you have other pups though,if it is parvo they will show signs probably

I thought it might be parvo but I haven't seen any bloody stool and the other two pups that where in the pen with them them stool is just fine normal the one pup died last night and the mother don't look good today I may try tamaflu but I think it may be a blockage I had a old towel in there above ground kennel and they have eaten some of the strings off of it I seen some of the mothers old stool and it had those strings all in it which makes me belive they have a blockage. If it was parvo can I still give the pups that are find a 5-way shot now or do I need to wait. The mother has had all her shots but she is very old so I don't know if that makes a difference. Thanks for all the help

Not trying to be an AZZ but have you tried A VET????
After 2 to 3 days of not eating Something is WRONG and a trip to the vet is Warranted IMHO
A little late for the Pup but if I cared enough to raise a Dog I feel that i have a responsibility to care for em..
lots of Good information on these Boards But nothing Takes the place of Good medical care When needed.
The Difference is When to know that you NEED HELP......

Well I would take her to the vet but my vet is on vacation till saturday and I am trying to do everything I can to keep her alive till then the only other vet in my area will not take any new dogs because he is trying to retire. So I thought I would post on here to do the best I can for her and the living pups.

understandable.
like I said i wasnt trying to on yer case.
A person does the best they can with what they have.
These forums are great just for that reason.
You may be on the right track with the blockage I would try a Supository maybe thin things down a bit along with the mineral oil
