Thanks for the Update Tim! Glad to hear they are doing well. I find the smallest seems to be the naughtiest little sh*t in the litter!! LOL Always starting something with the rest! I guess they have to learn to take care of themselves :D .

All the others range from 3 - 4 pounds. I've decided i'm keeping the largest and smallest of the litter. they both seem to be the most adventerous this far.

Got to go out and clean the kennel this evening so i'll get some pics of the little ones while out there.

Sorry for bumping such an old post, havent been to the site in a while and just wanted to put an update and a thanks again to all that gave advice.

Out of the 7 pups there are 4 left that are very healthy and turning into fine hunting hounds.

Unfortunately I had a bout with Parvo and lost 3 of the 7 =/ All the pups got it but i was only able to save 4 of them.

The little red one i was so worried about ended up being the strongest during the parvo fight and in my opinion is the one with the most desire for hunting (of course that could be due to the fact that i kept him, so i may be a bit predjudice =p)

Here's a couple pics of him, they arent great pictures but he's a beautiful pup (in my eyes anyway)

Thanks again to all that gave advice a kept me calm with my first beagle litter.

Well Tim after all that, try not to kill 'em with the Strongid T if you don't know what you are doing with it. It is many times stronger than Nemex or Nemex 2. Read the concentrations of Pyrantel Pamoate on the labels and you will see what I mean. It's a pretty safe drug for pups but you can easily overdo it.

Parvo is a real plague. I've had it here and it can cost you pups and money. I shoot an Intervet Proguard CPV (Parvo only) at 6 weeks and keep the pups up off the ground in a bleached kennel, shoot a Proguard 5 at 9 weeks, might let them out some a week after that takes effect. It's hard to know if you are getting parvo or just a touch of cocci and you can panic pretty quick if you see runny bloody mucousy stools. With parvo you can almost watch them fade away before your eyes and it's pitiful.

One thing I really want to mention is if you buy CPV in a 10 dose bottle, use it all at one time. Do not put it back in the fridge and use later. It will turn pale and becomes lethal to your pups. I don't care what the expiration date says don't reuse it. I found that out the hard way.
