Ivomec gets Heart, and Round worms. You will need something else for Wips and Tapes. I use Safeguard twice a year and Nomos twice a year. Safeguard gets the Wips and most Tapes. The Nomos are my favorite Tape medicine.
Lots of people on here use and Drontal and Allwormer. They say they get all worms, but I havent tried them.

Well, Drontal Plus won't prevent heart worms. You are looking at $5.00+ a pill if ya buy in bulk per dog PLUS the ivormect.
Ivormect $35.00 will last you forever or till it expires (usually 4 years or more)
prevents heartworms at 1/10 cc per 10 lbs but I have personally had no success in using ivermect alone for other worms.
costs pennies a month.
Safeguard horse paste (fenbendazol same as panacure) $7.50 a tube
Gets hooks rounds and whips and certian types of tapes if given 3 days in a row.
1 tube will do 5 dogs a month.
So you are looking at NO MORE THAN $8.00 a month for 5 dogs for routine worm prefention by using Safeguard AND Ivormec.
The closest medication you could get to a one pill preventitive is Heartguard Plus. It prevents heartworms and controls hooks and rounds but DOES NOT GET WHIPS. You are looking at around $25.00 for 6 pills or six dogs. [/b]

Here is a pretty good site to read about Ivomec ( Ivermectin ) that displaces some of the myths about this drug...

Bighead, thats an excellent website. I have had it bookmarked for years.
What I use is the Ivormect 1% soulution cattle injectable on the 15th and the Safeguard paste on the 1st of each month.
I have never used the liquid safeguard or the granuals for dogs. The paste is what I have used for years and will continue to use as long as they keep making it. I know how to properly dose the dogs with it and don't want to experiment with the liquid but I am sure it is just fine.
I WILL NOT USE THE GRANUALS for dogs. See, Safeguard just came up with the granuals a couple of years ago to tap into the dog market. When they realized the kennels were using the horse paste they decided to put out a dog product that was much more expensive but had no better coverage. Now the panacure for dogs that the vets use is a granual that has the fenbendazol and I am sure thats why Safeguard got the idea from but my worming program is affordable to me considering how many dogs I carry here and I will stick with it.

Do you give the Safeguard on all 3 days in a row, if so what dose do you give?

Yes, all three days in a row. The dosage depends on the dogs weight. Cainecutter has a website with the dosage chart on it
