I don't know what codine will do to a dog but do know that robitussin DM is recommended by vets to sooth the throat for dogs w/ kennel cough. I would save the good stuff for myself and buy the robitussin for the dog....
It won't cure it but it will assist with the affects, however when ours got it we bought some terimyacine (there is another name for it) powder form found in packets 8.99 per bag in the cattle section at the farm stores. ( The end name had myacine in it ) White bag. put about 2 tablespoons in a gallon of water to make sure they all drank it we watered down their dog food with it. This stuff is great for all kinds of infections. You can even pack it in a open wound to draw out infection and promote healing.
